Scorpio

July 2010

Synopsis:

Committee meetings, bureaucracies, Internet projects, crashing computer systems or telecommunications systems, and/or your daily commute back and forth to work is still causing you to have a hard time meeting your deadlines and productivity goals.  Fortunately, you have some smart, enthusiastic, and team-oriented energy coming into your “work” sector so you will figure things out.  You also have some wonderful things happening at home and your social interactions are definitely getting better.

Detailed version:

Old News

From March 25th through September 3rd, Saturn will be traveling backwards through your chart to recreate that big ugly battle with Uranus that we all dealt with in 2008 and 2009.  Saturn is still in your mental health, intuition, spiritual mysteries, bureaucracy, and “hidden forces working behind the scenes” sector, but is about to reenter your friends, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, social networking, group activities, and connectivity sector for a portion of this opposition.  Uranus is still in your fifth house of personal pleasure, romance, lovers, playtime, pets, children, creative talents, hobbies, luxuries, and “happiness”, but will be visiting your daily work, coworkers, to-do lists, chores, productivity, physical fitness, and “feeling useful” sector during part of this opposition.  Like before, globally we will see the world battling independence versus government, brotherhood versus civic duty, rebellion versus organized systems, chaos versus order.  This has been a big part of the economic problems most countries have been facing.  Civil rights, global technology, and international brotherhood are all aspects of this debate.  In the past, Uranus and Saturn were in zodiac signs that specialize in seeing how old ways no longer serve us.  Therefore, the focus globally was on how to tear down old systems.  We fought over which systems to tear down, how to tear them down, which should be saved, and who had a better grasp of what was actually wrong with the world.  This year, there will still be some of that, but there will also be a chunk of time when these opposing planets will be in zodiac signs that build, create new beginnings, and love fresh starts.  Therefore, we will find ourselves arguing over what the new beginning should look like.  2009 was about what to get rid of; 2010 is about what to replace it with.  In general, it is an easier battle and a lot less depressing.  For you personally, it was and will again be about battles between social obligations/the greater good and your own personal happiness (committee meetings versus spending time with your loved ones, Internet projects sucking up all of your free time, needy lovers versus spending tie with your friends, “my happiness” versus “the group’s happiness”, etc).  It will seem like no matter how hard you try to make everyone happy, either you are miserable or they are.  It is hard to be all things to all people.  Your schedule is too full for you to be fully present in most situations.  Also, there is a good chance that these problems are somehow tied to last year’s bureaucracy versus productivity, mental health versus physical health, and/or logic versus intuition challenges because at times Uranus and Saturn will be in and out of those areas of your life.  For example, work-related Internet activities, business networking, professional team-building, etc could be what is keeping you from feeling productive at work AND it is what is taking up all of your playtime and keeping you from enjoying your loved ones and leisure activities.  It is very easy to end up feeling burned out and grumpy as a result.  You need to be diligent about creating balance between these opposing forces.  Keep in mind that the real focus is on building something new, not on trying to salvage the old ways that no longer work.

From April 8th through July 20th, Saturn revisits Virgo.  As mentioned before, Saturn is tangled up in a battle with Uranus during this time, so his focus will mostly be on a “my happiness” versus “the greater good”, friends versus lovers, committee meetings versus playtime debate.

From May 4th through September 3rd, Jupiter opposes Saturn.  Jupiter is sneaking up behind Uranus and the two will soon be in a partnership as they both battle against Saturn.  Jupiter expands whatever he touches but he also tries to get people to see things from other people’s points of view.  Jupiter rules over global travel, multicultural studies, philosophies, religions, laws, universities, mass media, and “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes”.  Globally, we already have been dealing with younger generations wanting to take power from older generations.  We have seen battles between fundamentalists and rebels, between government and independence, between old-fashioned rules and futuristic visionaries, between old media (newspapers and television) and new media (the Internet), between stoic go-it-alone philosophies and brotherhood philosophies, etc.  Now, with Jupiter helping Uranus, the youthful, rebellious, brotherhood, social networking, and futuristic types are going to feel a huge boost of power in their favor.  Remember, this is a yin-yang placement of an almost identical astrological situation back in 1965 and 1966.  The Baby Boomers still see themselves as the youthful future-seekers, but a younger generation sees them as the old-fashioned ones dragging their feet and holding up progress.  Jupiter encourages a global, multicultural, academic, and judicious approach.  For you personally, Jupiter is helping with the “my happiness”, lovers, children, pets, and hobbies side in the battle against Saturn in your friends, teams, clubs, committees, networking, and Internet sector.  You could find that you are siding more with the idea of following your bliss.  Your personal pleasure sector is receiving a delightful boost of energy.  Your social life may still be in a tug-of-war with your ideas of happiness, but your heart is with your hobbies and loved ones at this time.

From May 11th through January 31st 2011, Jupiter and Uranus are traveling partners.  As mentioned earlier, they are teamed up together battling Saturn as their partnership begins.  They are in your fifth house of personal pleasure, romance, lovers, playtime, children, pets, hobbies, creative talents, luxury, and happiness.  They are working hard to promote these topics and to bring more brotherhood, genius, teamwork, friendships, and social networking into these areas of your life.  It is an optimistic, youthful, and sometimes rebellious energy.

From May 28th through August 13th, Uranus is in Aries and your sixth house of daily work tasks, to-do lists, coworkers, productivity levels, physical health, and “feeling useful”.  Hosting Uranus in this area of your life can be exhilarating.  If you work in telecommunications, Internet technologies, science, web hosting, handheld electronic devices, and cell phone technology, you could find this to be an excellent energy to host in your daily work sector.  If your job requires teamwork, social networking, large group activities, committees, professional associations, etc, you will probably find it much easier to get these groups working together towards a common goal.  At times, coworkers, productivity levels, job assignments, and your health may become chaotic and uncertain, but overall, things should be more enthusiastic and brainstorming solutions should be a bit easier.  You could also find yourself longing to change jobs or maybe you will jump around from job to job looking for something more meaningful and more inline with your authentic self.  Uranus in the daily work sector is going to push you towards finding work that matches your core personality.  An extrovert is not meant to be working in solitude.  An innovative trendsetter should not be working in a heavily bureaucratic environment.  The idea is that if we find work that matches our natural talents, then we have an easier time succeeding.  We are also able to give better performance levels to our employers.  You are not trying to be a spoiled brat, you are trying to find where you naturally fit into the scheme of things.  Just as when Jupiter enters this area, you will be motivated to look at innovation, trend setting, entrepreneurial projects, and/or showing the world that you are a ‘one of a kind’ leader in your industry.  Moving backwards into Pisces will feel like bureaucracy just tossed a bunch of roadblocks in the way of your brilliant ideas.  Nevertheless, it could also provide a lovely chance to rejuvenate after such a crazy fast introduction into what is coming next in your professional life.  Beginning next year, Uranus will spend the next few years in this area of your chart.

From June 6th through September 9th, Jupiter visits Aries and your sixth house of work and fitness.  Jupiter is trying to give you a preview of the wonderfully upbeat, adventurous, and lucky energy that he will bestow upon you next year, but Saturn’s opposition is making it a little difficult for you to take full advantage of this preview visit.

From June 17th through September 9th, Jupiter and Uranus will be angering Pluto.  They are already in an opposition with Saturn, now they are also clashing with Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are still in your daily work, coworkers, to-do lists, chores, productivity levels, physical fitness, and “feeling useful” sector.  Pluto is still in your local community, daily commute, commercial activities, negotiations, communications, telecommunications, computers, and commitments sector.  This is one of those “Clash of the Titans” events.  “Youthful rebellion” is butting heads with “trust and hidden truths.”  Globally, the desire for transformation and innovation clashes with “there is a right way and a wrong way to manage a revolution.”  The hard work and deep thought involved in successfully revolutionizing things is a rude awakening for idealistic groups wanting instant change.  “Yes we can” is all about enthusiasm and group cheerleading.  However, change does not come quick and it does not come easy.  That does not mean it is not coming, it just means that there is some difficult “grown up” stuff that has to be figured out and impatience does not help the cause.  For you personally, this can show up as problems getting back and forth to work each day, crashing computer systems, miscommunications, lost emails and telephone messages, employee gossip, tough contract negotiations, and unreasonable sales quotas causing you and your coworkers all kinds of problems.

New Developments

July 1st and 2nd, Mercury and Mars are creating an alliance.  Mercury is in your long-distance travel, foreigners, languages, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector.  Mars is in your friends, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, group activities, networking, connectivity, and Internet sector.  This is a great time for meeting new people from various backgrounds and beliefs.  You could find yourself becoming involved with people who work in media, academia, legal, political, cultural, travel, religious, and/or other global industries.  This is also a good time for planning a road trip with a group of friends.

From July 6th through the 11th, Venus opposes Neptune the way Mars did last month.  Venus is in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and climbing the Ladder of Success sector.  Neptune is still in your real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, safety and security, retirement circumstances, and “coming home” sector.  Once again, you have a tug-of-war between your career and home, public life and private life, father and mother, etc.  This time it is a little easier to mediate, because Venus rules over diplomacy.

From July 6th through the 15th, the sun steps into the same place that Mercury was just in.  Now, it is the sun’s turn to work with Mars to help you meet interesting people from various backgrounds and/or to enjoy travel adventures with friends.

From July 8th through the 10th, Mercury is working to help ease the tensions between Saturn and Jupiter/Uranus.  Saturn is in your friends, teams, clubs, committees, associations, networking, group activities, interconnectivity, and Internet sector.  Jupiter and Uranus are in your daily work, coworkers, chores, to-do lists, productivity, physical health, and “feeling useful” sector opposing Saturn and creating a big battle between your social obligations and your desire to accomplish something.  For example, committee meetings or Internet projects could be taking up too much of your time and causing you to not be able to meet deadlines and production goals at work.  Or surfing the web and hanging out with friends is keeping you from getting your chores done around the house.  Mercury is in a position to mediate and to help you from within your long-distance travel, foreigners, languages, cultures, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector.  You could find that a foreigner or someone working in legal, religious, political, media, academics, the travel industry, etc is able to help mediate.  However, it is more likely that you are able to take a more philosophical and open-minded approach to things and that is what helps you to make the best of the situation.  Perhaps you are using the Internet to job search and you decide to open yourself up to the possibility of moving to a new city.  Or you are able to combine social and professional activities on a business trip.  Or by simply allowing yourself to focus on the big picture, you are able to better understand how to maneuver your way through your current challenges.

From July 10th through the 16th, Venus and Pluto are working very nicely together.  Venus has moved into your friends, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, connectivity, networking, and Internet sector.  Pluto is still in your interpersonal communications, commercial activities, and local community sector.  These are the two planets in charge of seduction and finances.  They are in the zodiac signs of “work” and “success”.  This is a great time for business meetings, sales presentations, written proposals, etc presented in from of committees, teams, clubs, and associations.  You could also find lucrative success from conducting these same activities online.  Internet marketing to local clients is also encouraged.  Socially, you could enjoy combining friends, teammates, relatives, neighbors, and other community members.  Maybe host or attend a backyard BBQ or have everyone meet up at a local park for a play date together.  Attend various local group activities for great conversations, good times, and/or lucrative business opportunities.

July 11th hosts a new moon eclipse in your long-distance travel, foreigners, languages, cultures, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector.  This is an excellent time for relocating to a new city and/or for finding new jobs involving cultural, religious, legal, political, academic, media, and/or travel industries.  It is also a good time for launching any new projects, goals, or activities involving these “cultural” topics.  The sun and Mars are still working together, so your social life, networking projects, team memberships, and/or Internet activities could help with this new beginning in your life.  Eclipses are often life changing events.  Sometimes they do not show up right away, but later when you look back on things, you realize that this is when things began to change.  For example, you meet a lawyer that later hooks you up with a great new job.  Or you start attending a new church and that is how you network your way into a better job or wonderful friends.  It could be a major event or it could be something seemingly minor that happens now.  However it shows up, it could have a more significant long-term impact than what you might originally assume.

From July 19th through the 29th, the sun in your long-distance travel, foreigners, languages, cultures, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector is working quite nicely with Jupiter and Uranus in your “work” sector.  This is a great time for professional activities involving travel, continued education and training, legal mandates, international marketing, media projects, and other “global” topics.  With Jupiter and Uranus’ involvement, teamwork, creativity, enthusiasm, telecommunications, the Internet, and/or social networking could be very helpful tools.

From July 21st through the 24th, the sun is also working with Saturn who is preparing to leave your eleventh house of friends, teams, and social networking.  This helps you and your friends, teams, clubs, committees, associations, etc to find common ground, to work on academic, legal, political, religious, and cultural activities.  It is an excellent time for International networking projects.  Jupiter and Uranus are still opposing Saturn from within your “work” sector.  They create a tug-of-war between your social obligations and your productivity levels (committee meetings versus meeting deadlines).  Once again, you are in a position to see the big picture, to help everyone see things from the other’s point of view, and for finding legal, academic, political, media, cultural, and/or philosophical solutions.

From July 24th through the 28th, Mercury and Neptune are creating another opposition in your life.  Mercury is in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and success sector where Venus and Mars used to be.  Neptune is still in your real estate, housing matter, roommates, parents, and “home” sector.  Once again, you are struggling to create balance between work and home, between your mother and father, between your desire to succeed at your professional goals and your need for domestic bliss, etc.  This time with Mercury’s involvement, you may be able to brainstorm some creative ideas that might help.

July 25th hosts a full moon in your real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, safety and security, retirement circumstances, and “coming home” sector.  Full moons are for endings, closure, grand finales, and “ta-da!” moments.  This is an excellent time for you to finish working on residential projects.  Complete a home-improvement or landscaping project, sell a home, finally complete a real estate purchase, say goodbye to an annoying roommate, retire, let go of childhood issues that may have been holding you back, etc.  There is nothing negatively affecting this full moon so it should be a great time for you.  Jupiter and Uranus are sending positive energy from within your “work” sector.  This adds to the idea that you are able to complete a major landscaping, home-improvements, redecorating, home-repairs, or some other “home” related project you have been working on.

From July 26th through September 14th, Saturn battles Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are already thumbing their noses at Pluto and they are still opposing Saturn who has moved back into your mental health, spiritual mysteries, intuition, secrets, bureaucracies, and “hidden forces working behind the scenes” sector.  The opposition involving productivity versus bureaucracy, logic versus intuition, and/or mental health versus physical health gets even uglier for a while, because of Pluto’s involvement.  Since Pluto is in your communications, commerce, and community sector, it is your communications style, sales presentations, computer or telecommunications problems, extended family, neighbors, local gossip, dysfunctional relationships, daily transportation to and from work, etc that is at the center of the controversy.  Pluto is in the area of your chart that basically asks, “Does your word and a handshake mean anything?” and how to get your needs met within your clan.  To make matters even worse, Mars is teaming up with Saturn until August 8th and will be adding an extra dose of anger, aggression, and/or agitation to the emotional, psychological, secretive, and/or bureaucratic elements in this drama.  It would be very easy for you to fall into an angry depression.  Do what you can to remain calm and centered and try not to say or do anything that you will regret later.  Everyone is struggling with this tough dynamic in some aspect of their lives.  Try to be patient with them.

From July 27th through August 1st, Mercury and Pluto are getting along wonderfully.  Mercury is in your friends, teams, clubs, committees, associations, connectivity, networking and Internet sector and Pluto is still in your communications, commerce, and community sector.  Pluto creates trust, profit sharing, and passion.  Mercury creates negotiations, contracts, and agreements.  Together, they create a smart and lucrative energy for you to work with when presenting business proposals to various teams, clubs, committees, and other professional groups.  This is another opportunity to work on Internet marketing aimed at local clientele and for all kinds of buying, selling, bartering, negotiating, persuading, entertaining, inspiring, and otherwise conversing with friends and colleagues.  You come across as smart, honest, and even more persuasive than normal.

My Approach to Forecasting

Hope ‘Scopes

As many of you know, the forecasts over the last year and a half have reflected the negative aspects between various planets that have played a role in the economic, political, cultural, and societal challenges that we have been dealing with globally.  Some of you have written to us stating that you are tired of hearing all of the bad news and that you could really use something positive to focus your attention on, something to help you feel better as we go through this trying time.  Therefore, we have decided to create a new version of the horoscopes.

Hope ‘Scopes

I have always felt that I should tell you when good things are coming so that you can position yourself to take advantage of as much of that goodness as you can.  And that I should also tell you the truth about the bad things coming so that you can brace yourself and plan accordingly.  I still believe in that philosophy even though we are going through challenging times at the moment.  Therefore, I will still write the original style of in-depth monthly forecasts, as well as the new “Hope ‘Scopes”.

This URL will still be the home of the old style of forecasts...

New Developments

From August 3rd through the 12th, Venus joins Mars and Saturn in the big opposition against Jupiter and Uranus (with Pluto caught in the middle and being pulled at by both sides.)  Typically, Venus would try to add diplomacy, seduction, wealth, beauty, or justice to help solve a problem.  However, she is unable to help mediate the situation.  Six of the ten planets are now involved in this war.  Venus, Mars, and Saturn are representing your mental health, spirituality, and bureaucracy sector.  Jupiter and Uranus are representing your daily work, productivity, and physical health sector.  And Pluto is representing your communications, commerce, and community sector.  All three of these sectors are clashing with huge emotional, physical, and philosophical battles over bureaucracies, productivity, logic, spirituality, communications, commercial activities, sales techniques, dysfunctional family dynamics, drunken neighbors, local gossip, etc.  This is the worst of it.  Mars and Venus will wander off together leaving the Titans to carry on the battle until mid-September.  As Saturn moves deeper into Libra and your “hidden forces” sector and Jupiter and Uranus move backwards into Pisces and your personal happiness sector, they will no longer be in alignment and then this battle will end.
