Libra

July 2010

Synopsis:

For the most part, this month is better than last month.  However, you still have a huge battle raging between you and a romantic, social, or business partner.  For a while, you are able to agree on professional goals and on what kind of public image the two of you would like to present.  You also end the month with both of you upset about something or someone in your home.  Luckily, you are also given a strong “peace and harmony” vibe to help soothe your raw emotions and get you to start opening up and communicating with whoever or whatever it is that is causing so much stress at home.

Detailed version:

Old News

From March 25th through September 3rd, Saturn will be traveling backwards through your chart to recreate that big ugly battle with Uranus that we all dealt with in 2008 and 2009.  Saturn is technically still in your first house of “me” and in Libra when this begins, but will spend part of this time backtracking into Virgo and your twelfth house of “hidden forces working behind the scenes”.  Uranus starts out in your daily work sector, visits your partnerships sector, and then moves back into your work sector again.  Like before, globally we will see the world battling independence versus government, brotherhood versus civic duty, rebellion versus organized systems, chaos versus order.  This has been a big part of the economic problems most countries have been facing.  Civil rights, global technology, and international brotherhood are all aspects of this debate.  In the past, Uranus and Saturn were in zodiac signs that specialize in seeing how old ways no longer serve us.  Therefore, the focus globally was on how to tear down old systems.  We fought over which systems to tear down, how to tear them down, which should be saved, and who had a better grasp of what was actually wrong with the world.  This year, there will still be some of that, but there will also be a chunk of time when these opposing planets will be in zodiac signs that build, create new beginnings, and love fresh starts.  Therefore, we will find ourselves arguing over what the new beginning should look like.  2009 was about what to get rid of; 2010 is about what to replace it with.  In general, it is an easier battle and a lot less depressing.  For you personally, it was and will again be about battles between bureaucracy and productivity, between mental health and physical health, and/or between logic and intuition.  It will seem like no matter how hard you try or how smartly prepared you are, that red tape, corporate policies, and other forms of bureaucracy just keep creating brick walls and road blocks that drive you nuts.  It is very easy to end up feeling burned out and grumpy as a result.  You need to be diligent about creating balance between these opposing forces.  Keep in mind that the real focus is on building something new, not on trying to salvage the old ways that no longer work.  At various times during this last battle between Uranus and Saturn, you and your partners/rivals will also be butting heads because of the times when Uranus is visiting Aries and Saturn is in Libra.

From April 8th through July 20th, Saturn revisits Virgo.  As mentioned before, Saturn is tangled up in a battle with Uranus during this time, so his focus will mostly be on a mental health versus physical health, intuition versus logic, bureaucracy versus productivity debate.

From May 4th through September 3rd, Jupiter opposes Saturn.  Jupiter is sneaking up behind Uranus and the two will soon be in a partnership as they both battle against Saturn.  Jupiter expands whatever he touches but he also tries to get people to see things from other people’s points of view.  Jupiter rules over global travel, multicultural studies, philosophies, religions, laws, universities, mass media, and “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes”.  Globally, we already have been dealing with younger generations wanting to take power from older generations.  We have seen battles between fundamentalists and rebels, between government and independence, between old-fashioned rules and futuristic visionaries, between old media (newspapers and television) and new media (the Internet), between stoic go-it-alone philosophies and brotherhood philosophies, etc.  Now, with Jupiter helping Uranus, the youthful, rebellious, brotherhood, social networking, and futuristic types are going to feel a huge boost of power in their favor.  Remember, this is a yin-yang placement of an almost identical astrological situation back in 1965 and 1966.  The Baby Boomers still see themselves as the youthful future-seekers, but a younger generation sees them as the old-fashioned ones dragging their feet and holding up progress.  Jupiter encourages a global, multicultural, academic, and judicious approach.  For you personally, Jupiter is helping with daily work, productivity levels, logic, coworkers, and feeling like a useful member of society in the battle against Saturn in your mental health, spiritual mysteries, intuition, bureaucracies, and red tape sector.  You could find that brainstorming sessions, technology, innovative ideas, exercise and fitness routines are especially helpful in combating depression, hopelessness, and feeling as if bureaucrats are screwing things up.

From May 11th through January 31st 2011, Jupiter and Uranus are traveling partners.  As mentioned earlier, they are teamed up together battling Saturn as their partnership begins.  For now, they are in your sixth house of daily work, coworkers, productivity levels, tools and equipment, organizational skills, physical health, and “feeling useful.”  They are working hard to help you generate more business, get more work done, find innovative new ways to accomplish more in less time, utilize technology, and they are trying to motivate you to get healthy.  Over the summer, they will move into your seventh house of marriage, best friend, business partnership, and competitors (think yin-yang).  When this happens, they will change their focus towards who you partner with, how you conduct yourself within a partnership, and they will do all they can to help bring their gifts of inspiration, innovation, open-mindedness, and optimism into your partnerships.

From May 28th through August 13th, Uranus is in Aries and your seventh house of marriage, best friends, business partnerships, and competitors (think yin-yang).  Your various partners will be chaotic, unpredictable, rebellious, and/or stubborn when planets negatively interact with Uranus while he is in this area of your chart.  These same partners will suddenly become charming, funny, team-oriented, brilliant, innovative, and full of pleasant surprises when Uranus interacts positively with various planets.  This ADHD type of extreme positive, extreme negative drama in a marriage or business partnership can be very disruptive.  If a best friend is going through it, we can sort of write it off as if they are just going through some type of metamorphosis – which they are.  (Your partners are learning to embrace their unique individuality and independence while also being great team players and part of something bigger than themselves.)  When a business partner or spouse is going through this kind of upheaval, it is very difficult to cope.  It is not unusual for one or both of you to decide that the partnership is no longer working and to want to end the relationship.  It is not so much because you no longer care about each other, but that it is easy to conclude that ending the partnership is the only answer to creating stability in your own life.  Unfortunately, all that means is that you get to then embark on a roller coaster of dating or interviewing potential business partners that is just as crazy and unpredictable.  You see, it is your partnership sector that is hosting Uranus’ genius, charm, and rebellion, so you will have to deal with it regardless.  To a point, it is about your ability to cope with chaos, extreme good and extreme bad in a partnership.  Your competitors could become a bigger than normal problem too.  This is because they can trick you into thinking they want to create an alliance or team approach to things and then they can abruptly stab you in the back for trusting them.  This is a difficult placement, but not without its charms.  Internet dating, Internet business partnerships, and entrepreneurial activities should flourish.

From June 6th through September 9th, Jupiter visits Aries and your seventh house of marriage, best friends, business partnerships, and competitors.  Jupiter is trying to give you a preview of the wonderfully upbeat, adventurous, and lucky energy that he will bestow upon you next year, but Saturn’s opposition is making it a little difficult for you to take full advantage of this preview visit.

From June 17th through September 9th, Jupiter and Uranus will be angering Pluto.  They are already in an opposition with Saturn, now they are also clashing with Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are still in your marriage, best friends, business partnerships, and competitors sector.  Pluto is still in your real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, retirement circumstances, and “coming home” sector.  This is one of those “Clash of the Titans” events.  “Youthful rebellion” is butting heads with “trust and hidden truths.”  Globally, the desire for transformation and innovation clashes with “there is a right way and a wrong way to manage a revolution.”  The hard work and deep thought involved in successfully revolutionizing things is a rude awakening for idealistic groups wanting instant change.  “Yes we can” is all about enthusiasm and group cheerleading.  However, change does not come quick and it does not come easy.  That does not mean it is not coming, it just means that there is some difficult “grown up” stuff that has to be figured out and impatience does not help the cause.  For you personally, your spouse, best friend, business partner, or competitor is fighting with your parents, roommates, realtor, landscaper, or a home improvement project.  A competitor is upset with how you are living your private life.  Perhaps you have aging parents that really need your help and your spouse is getting ticked off about the situation.  Or the two of you are trying to buy a house together and it is not going as smoothly as your partner would like.  Or a business partner is upset because you spend too much time focusing on your home life and not enough time on the business.  Any battle between “partners” and “home” that include elements of “rebellion” and “trust” could show up at this time.

New Developments

July 1st and 2nd, Mercury and Mars are creating an alliance.  Mercury is in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and success sector.  Mars is in your mental health, spiritual mysteries, and bureaucracies sector.  Together, these two can help you set goals, iron out how you can achieve those goals, and then get yourself psychologically geared up to make great things happen.  Business deals, marketing and advertising campaigns, job promotions, and leadership roles involving government agencies, corporations, hospitals, prisons, and other bureaucracies are especially blessed at this time.  Those of you working in mental health or paranormal industries could find it easier than usual to succeed.

From July 6th through the 11th, Venus opposes Neptune the way Mars did last month.  Venus is in your friends, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, networking, and Internet activities sector.  Neptune is still in your personal pleasure, lovers, playtime, pets, children, hobbies, creative talents, luxury, and happiness sector.  Once again, you have a tug-of-war between your social obligations or Internet activities and your desire to have fun, spend time with loved ones, or work on creative projects.  This time it is a little easier to mediate.

From July 6th through the 15th, the sun steps into the same place that Mercury was just in.  Now, it is the sun’s turn to work with Mars to help you set meaningful professional goals and to get yourself into the correct frame of mind for achieving success.

From July 8th through the 10th, Mercury is working to help ease the tensions between you and a spouse, best friend, business partner, or competitor.  Saturn is in your mental health and bureaucracies sector about to slip back into your “me” sector.  Jupiter and Uranus are in your partnership sector opposing Saturn and creating a big battle between you and one of your partners or competitors.  Mercury is in a position to mediate and to help both of you find common ground from within your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and success sector.  Your boss or an authority figure could mediate between the two of you.  It is more likely that professional success, you taking on a leadership role, or the two of you agreeing to present your relationship a certain way in public is helping to smooth things over between you.

From July 10th through the 16th, Venus and Pluto are working very nicely together.  Venus has moved into your mental health, spiritual mysteries, bureaucracies, and “hidden forces working behind the scenes” sector.  Pluto is still in your real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, retirement circumstances, and “coming home”.  These are the two planets in charge of seduction and finances.  Together, they can help you work on real estate deals, property taxes, home improvement loans, and retirement planning.  They can also help you to bring more emotional, romantic, and compassionate energy into your private life.  You can heal old childhood wounds, forgive your parents, bring harmony into your home, and work on creating a sense of “sanctuary” in your home.

July 11th hosts a new moon eclipse in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and success sector.  This is an excellent time for new career paths, job promotions, new leadership roles, new bosses, new marketing and advertising campaigns, and any other fresh start or new beginning you would like to launch within your career and public life.  The sun and Mars are still blending your professional success sector and your mental health, spiritual mysteries, and bureaucracy sector, so careers involving these types of topics are especially blessed.  If you have been planning and plotting a professional goal, this could be the perfect time to launch your plan and get things started.  Eclipses often create big life changing moments.  However, they do not always seem obvious at first.  Sometimes it is a big major professional change and other times it is more subtle, like you meet someone who introduces you to someone who starts you down a far more interesting path.  You could find that you look back on this moment and realize that this is when things really began to change for you.

From July 19th through the 29th, the sun in your professional success sector is working quite nicely with Jupiter and Uranus in your partnerships sector.  This is a great time for high profile marriages, famous friendships, and especially for business partnerships.  The two of you see eye-to-eye on what direction your career should be heading in.  The second half of this dynamic will shift towards teamwork and networking opportunities for the two of you.

From July 21st through the 24th, the sun is also working with Saturn who is slipping back into Libra and your first house of “me”.  This adds more professional success to your life.  Jupiter and Uranus are still opposing Saturn.  They create a tug-of-war between you and a spouse, best friend, business partner, or competitor (think yin-yang).  Now with the sun working nicely with both you and your partner, you could find that by taking a leadership role, by behaving in a more professional manner, by focusing more on your career, etc you are able to begin smoothing things over between the two of you.

From July 24th through the 28th, Mercury and Neptune are creating another opposition in your life.  Mercury is in your friendships, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, networking, and Internet sector where Venus and Mars used to be.  Neptune is still in your personal pleasure, lovers, playtime, pets, children, hobbies, creative talents, luxury, and happiness sector.  Once again, social obligations, Internet activities, team spirit, or some other group activity is keeping you from spending quality time with loved ones, hobbies, and/or creative pursuits.

July 25th hosts a full moon in your personal pleasure sector.  Full moons are for endings, closure, grand finales, and “ta-da!” moments.  This is an excellent time for you to finish working on musical, artistic, theatrical, and/or creative projects.  It is also a great time to end unhealthy romances, finally land a delightful first date with someone that has been “hard to get”, end a vacation or playtime activity, finally save up enough to purchase an expensive luxury item, or “end” any other “happiness” oriented activity.  There is nothing negatively affecting this full moon so it should be a great time for you.  It could be a wonderfully steamy hot summer night with a full moon simply there for your own personal enjoyment.  Jupiter and Uranus are sending positive energy from within your partnership sector.  This means that a spouse, best friend, or business partner could participate in your lovely “happily ever after” moment.

From July 26th through September 14th, Saturn battles Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are already thumbing their noses at Pluto and they are still opposing Saturn.  The opposition between you and a spouse, best friend, business partner, or competitor gets even uglier for a while, because of Pluto’s involvement.  Both you and your partner (or competitor) are upset about something in your private life.  It could be a parent, roommate, houseguest, real estate deal, housing situation, home repairs, remodeling projects, landscaping efforts, retirement planning, or any other “home” related topic that has got you both so upset.  To make matters even worse, Mars is teaming up with Saturn until August 8th and will be adding an extra dose of anger, aggression, and/or agitation to your role in this drama.  Your partner is chaotic and you are simply ticked off.  Both of you are stubborn, passionate, and volatile.  Be very careful not to say or do anything you will regret later.

From July 27th through August 1st, Mercury and Pluto are getting along wonderfully.  Mercury is entering your mental health, spiritual mysteries, bureaucracies, and “hidden forces working behind the scenes” sector.  Pluto likes to dig up hidden truths, trust issues, and hidden resources.  Mercury likes to share information, analyze, and negotiate.  Together, these two can help you find emotional, financial, and/or spiritual peace of mind.  They are trying to bring more trust, communications, and honesty into whatever home-related issues are causing you and your partner so much trouble.  This is an excellent energy to help you talk through the problems, brainstorm financial or romantic solutions, meditate, reflect, pray, etc to bring peace and harmony back into your home.

My Approach to Forecasting

Hope ‘Scopes

As many of you know, the forecasts over the last year and a half have reflected the negative aspects between various planets that have played a role in the economic, political, cultural, and societal challenges that we have been dealing with globally.  Some of you have written to us stating that you are tired of hearing all of the bad news and that you could really use something positive to focus your attention on, something to help you feel better as we go through this trying time.  Therefore, we have decided to create a new version of the horoscopes.

Hope ‘Scopes

I have always felt that I should tell you when good things are coming so that you can position yourself to take advantage of as much of that goodness as you can.  And that I should also tell you the truth about the bad things coming so that you can brace yourself and plan accordingly.  I still believe in that philosophy even though we are going through challenging times at the moment.  Therefore, I will still write the original style of in-depth monthly forecasts, as well as the new “Hope ‘Scopes”.

This URL will still be the home of the old style of forecasts...

New Developments

From August 3rd through the 12th, Venus joins Mars and Saturn in the big opposition against Jupiter and Uranus (with Pluto caught in the middle and being pulled at by both sides.)  Typically, Venus would try to add diplomacy, seduction, wealth, beauty, or justice to help solve a problem.  However, she is unable to help mediate the situation.  Six of the ten planets are now involved in this war.  Venus, Mars, and Saturn are representing you.  Jupiter and Uranus are representing your spouse, best friend, business partner, or competitor.  And Pluto is representing your home, parent, roommate, childhood issues, or retirement plans.  You and your spouse could be arguing over a parent, a roommate, or any “home” related topic.  This is the worst of it.  Mars and Venus will wander off together leaving the Titans to carry on the battle until mid-September.  As Saturn moves deeper into Libra and your “me” sector and Jupiter and Uranus move back into Pisces and your “daily work” sector, this battle will end.
