Give Me a Sign!

How do you know if the voices you hear guiding you are really from some type of divine angels, spirit guides, God, or whatever other outside source that you talk to?  How do you know that it is not just you talking to yourself?  Call it your higher self, your subconscious, your id, or any other form of “me, myself, and I.”  How do you know if you are being gently guided by divinity or it is simply your deeper secret self telling you what to do or what not to do?  Ask for a sign.

As always, I’m going to use the word ‘angels’ as a universal term for whatever religious figure you prefer to talk to.  The point is that if angels are trying to get you to do something, they are not going to ignore your request for confirmation.  Why would they tell you to make some sort of change in your life and then leave you feeling uncertain as to whether or not it was even them talking to you?  It defeats the entire purpose of divine intervention or divine guidance.

For example, let’s imagine that a lawyer has been happily going about his life only helping clients that he believes in.  He enjoys his career and feels pretty good about the work he’s doing to help the innocent and the underdogs of society.  Since he is so content with his life, he does not entertain the idea of changing directions.  Then he starts hearing that still small voice telling him that he needs to become a minister.  Where is that coming from?  How can he tell if it is divine inspiration guiding him to something spiritually important or if it is some psychological game that he is playing with himself?  Assuming that he is willing to listen to that voice, he can test its source by asking for a sign.  To his angels he can say, “Give me a sign!  If this is something that you really want me to do, then give me an obvious undisputable sign that this is your divine plan for me.”

A sign is going to show up or it is not.  If it does not show up, then he can use the more logical parts of himself to evaluate whether or not he really wants to make this career change or not.  What if out of nowhere over the next week five different unrelated people from completely different aspects of his life all tell him that he would make a great minister without him even bringing up the subject?  He could take that as a sign from his angels that yes, this is what they want him to do.  For our lawyer friend, it seems that everywhere he turns someone is suddenly telling him that he should become a preacher.  “Have you ever considered becoming a preacher?  You would be sooooo good at it!  Not boring and stuffy like a lot of others are and you wouldn’t be hypocritical either.  Yeah, you should really think about it!”  With a bunch of these comments coming from innocent people who have no reason to be saying such things, he can take that as a sign from the heavens.  He still has free will, but at least he has a clearer idea as to whether or not it is heaven sent divinity asking this of him.

If the sign is a vague “maybe” sort of a sign, then he can re-ask the question stating that he needs unquestionable proof from the heavens that they absolutely do want him to head in this direction.  Or he can assume that since the proof was not provided in an obvious unquestionable manner that he is playing head games with himself or that the angels are not very serious about their request.  For example, let’s say that his ‘sign’ is that he meets one really nice preacher over the next few days.  Is that an absolute definite sign from above?  Not really, it is a bit too vague to say that it is a definite sign from above that the angels want him to go into that line of work.  As long as the confirmation that he receives remains unclear, then he will be unclear as to whether or not he is supposed to move forward with such a drastic change in his life.  He will have to use his more analytical and logical thinking mind to decide what is truly best for him.  He does love the work he is already doing and he is already contributing to his community by being such a noble honest attorney.  He can simply toss aside that little voice’s whispers unless the whisperer is willing to prove to him that there is a divine reason for changing.

What if you are a bit intuitive or a psychic and you are not sure if the visions you are having are really the future or they are just your own personal worries, anxieties, hopes, and dreams seeping through into your meditations?  The same idea holds true – ask for a sign.  Ask the angels to provide confirmation that what you are seeing, feeling, or sensing is actually real and not just make-believe.  If it is important, they will show you a sign.  If your predictions and forecasts are not true then they will not send you a sign.  If what you are seeing is not of any real importance to your future, they will not send you a sign.

From my own personal experience, I can promise you that the visions, messages, guidance, premonitions, and hunches that the angels strongly confirmed as correct had a 100% accuracy rate.  Those that were not at all validated usually did not come true.  The ones that only got a wishy washy weak sign of support from the heavens had a hit or miss accuracy rate.  The angels are happy to provide confirmation and will do so in a manner that is clear and meaningful to you.  Ask them.
