Capricorn

July 2010

Synopsis:

You are still dealing with a “home” versus “career” tug-of-war and your finances are still unsettled.  However, you do achieve a financial goal despite all of the stress and uncertainty.  You also have a spouse, best friend, or business partner that is able to offer quite a bit of assistance when balancing and juggling your various responsibilities and challenges this month.  And you are encouraged to travel, explore other cultures, politics, religions, etc in order to broaden your horizons, open your mind, and help you to get your mind off the dramas in your life.  Even if you can only travel and explore via the Internet, books, and television, it is still a great way to go on a “journey” and get away from it all.

Detailed version:

Old News

From March 25th through September 3rd, Saturn will be traveling backwards through your chart to recreate that big ugly battle with Uranus that we all dealt with in 2008 and 2009.  Saturn is in your tenth house of professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation and success.  However, during part of this battle, he will backtrack and revisit your ninth house of travel, cultures, laws, religions, politics, philosophies, universities, mass media, and global awareness.  Uranus will be in your third house of communications, commerce, commitments, and community, but will also be making a preview visit into your fourth house of real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, safety and security, retirement circumstances, and “coming home”.  Like before, globally we will see the world battling independence versus government, brotherhood versus civic duty, rebellion versus organized systems, chaos versus order.  This has been a big part of the economic problems most countries have been facing.  Civil rights, global technology, and international brotherhood are all aspects of this debate.  In the past, Uranus and Saturn were in zodiac signs that specialize in seeing how old ways no longer serve us.  Therefore, the focus globally was on how to tear down old systems.  We fought over which systems to tear down, how to tear them down, which should be saved, and who had a better grasp of what was actually wrong with the world.  This year, there will still be some of that, but there will also be a chunk of time when these opposing planets will be in zodiac signs that build, create new beginnings, and love fresh starts.  Therefore, we will find ourselves arguing over what the new beginning should look like.  2009 was about what to get rid of; 2010 is about what to replace it with.  In general, it is an easier battle and a lot less depressing.  For you personally, it was and will again be about balancing your “home town” and “global” aspects.  Do you stay local or expand globally?  Can your business handle multicultural clientele?  What are the legal, political, and/or media-related issues with expansion or with dealing with certain long-distance customers?  Should you travel on an exotic vacation or create an interesting “staycation”?  College students could be torn between local universities and those that are farther away from home. They could also find that there is a growing disconnect between themselves and their uneducated and unenlightened relatives.  Parents could find that their college kids suddenly know everything about everything and think that you are not very smart.  During parts of the battle, you will see elements of this month’s “home” versus “professional goals” battle kicking in too.  You might be debating the idea of relocating to another city for professional reasons or you might be dealing with cultural matters at home like political arguments or local neighbors coming over and spreading their bigotry and ignorance when you just wanted to have a pleasant backyard BBQ for the neighborhood.  Maybe you are the one who is going to be forced to become more open-minded or more accepting of others.  There is also the possibility that you could be debating whether or not to retire.  Or you could be thinking about becoming self-employed working from home and you are trying to figure out how to maintain a global presence within your industry (the Internet/websites could help).  Remember that as this battle moves back and forth across four of your twelve sectors, that the ultimate goal is to rebuild your life after the destruction of the last couple of years in a positive, fresh, new, and innovative way.

From April 8th through July 20th, Saturn revisits Virgo.  As mentioned before, Saturn is tangled up in a battle with Uranus during this time, so his focus will mostly be on small town thinking versus global awareness types of issues, as well as creating “learning experiences” concerning all forms of travel, communications, academics, media, and philosophies.

From May 4th through September 3rd, Jupiter opposes Saturn.  Jupiter is sneaking up behind Uranus and the two will soon be in a partnership as they both battle against Saturn.  Jupiter expands whatever he touches but he also tries to get people to see things from other people’s points of view.  Jupiter rules over global travel, multicultural studies, philosophies, religions, laws, universities, mass media, and “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes”.  Globally, we already have been dealing with younger generations wanting to take power from older generations.  We have seen battles between fundamentalists and rebels, between government and independence, between old-fashioned rules and futuristic visionaries, between old media (newspapers and television) and new media (the Internet), between stoic go-it-alone philosophies and brotherhood philosophies, etc.  Now, with Jupiter helping Uranus, the youthful, rebellious, brotherhood, social networking, and futuristic types are going to feel a huge boost of power in their favor.  Remember, this is a yin-yang placement of an almost identical astrological situation back in 1965 and 1966.  The Baby Boomers still see themselves as the youthful future-seekers, but a younger generation sees them as the old-fashioned ones dragging their feet and holding up progress.  Jupiter encourages a global, multicultural, academic, and judicious approach.  For you personally, Jupiter is helping with the small town thinking, extended family, local communities, Internet and commercial activities, and interpersonal communications side in the battle against Saturn in your global sector.  You could find that you are siding more with the idea of independence, freedom, and using the Internet.  Your local community and family life is receiving a delightful boost of energy.  Your family may still be in a tug-of-war over politics, religion, legal matters, global expansion, academics, etc, but they are feeling more united despite their differences at this time.

From May 11th through January 31st 2011, Jupiter and Uranus are traveling partners.  As mentioned earlier, they are teamed up together battling Saturn as their partnership begins.  They are in your third house of local community, interpersonal communications, and commercial activities.  They are working hard to promote these topics and to bring more brotherhood, genius, teamwork, friendships, and social networking into these areas of your life.  Telecommunications, business websites, and family businesses are especially blessed by their teamwork in this area of your life.  It is an optimistic, youthful, and sometimes rebellious energy.

From June 17th through September 9th, Jupiter and Uranus will be angering Pluto.  They are already in an opposition with Saturn, now they are also clashing with Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are still in your real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, retirement circumstances, and “coming home” sector.  Pluto is still in your “me” sector.  This is one of those “Clash of the Titans” events.  “Youthful rebellion” is butting heads with “trust and hidden truths.”  Globally, the desire for transformation and innovation clashes with “there is a right way and a wrong way to manage a revolution.”  The hard work and deep thought involved in successfully revolutionizing things is a rude awakening for idealistic groups wanting instant change.  “Yes we can” is all about enthusiasm and group cheerleading.  However, change does not come quick and it does not come easy.  That does not mean it is not coming, it just means that there is some difficult “grown up” stuff that has to be figured out and impatience does not help the cause.  For you personally, it shows up as you fighting with your parents, roommates, realtor, landscaper, or a home improvement project.  You are upset about something in your private life.  Perhaps you have aging parents that really need your help and you are getting ticked off about the situation.  Or you are trying to buy a house and it is not going as smoothly as you would like.  Or you are upset because you spend too much time focusing on your home life and not enough time on your career.  Any battle between “me” and “home” that include elements of “rebellion” and “trust” could show up at this time.

New Developments

July 1st and 2nd, Mercury and Mars are creating an alliance.  Mercury is in your marriage, best friends, business partnerships, rivals, competitors, and enemies (think yin-yang) sector.  Mars is in your long distance travel, languages, foreigners, cultures, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector.  This is a great time for you and a romantic, social, or business partner to travel together, explore, learn new things, and broaden your horizons.  It is also a good time for meeting people from other counties, political parties, religions, etc.  If you are in need of a new partner, you might want to look for them within political, religious, cultural, academic, and/or travel-related scenarios.  This is also a good time for you and a partner to work on legal contracts together or for you and a legal adversary to mediate an agreement between the two of you.  For example, divorcing couples could find this is a good time to have a meaningful discussion about creating a fair and drama free split.  If you and a partner are teamed up against a 3rd party in a legal battle, this is a good time for you to schedule those hearings and for getting the judge to agree with your side of the debate.

From July 6th through the 11th, Venus opposes Neptune the way Mars did last month.  Venus is in your trust and sharing, fidelity, loyalty, joint finances, investments, and profit sharing sector.  Neptune is still in your personal wealth and self-worth sector.  Once again, you have a financial tug-of-war or a battle of “mine” versus “ours”.  You could also be dealing with an internal debate concerning your self-respect versus infidelity/trust issues.  This time, the energy is less confrontational and it is a little easier to mediate.

From July 6th through the 15th, the sun steps into the same place that Mercury was just in.  Now, it is the sun’s turn to work with Mars to help you bring more travel, laws, religions, politics, academics, mass media, and/or foreigners into your partnerships.  This time it is more action-oriented rather than cerebral.

From July 8th through the 10th, Mercury is working to help ease the tensions between Saturn and Jupiter/Uranus.  Saturn is in your long distance travel, languages, foreigners, cultures, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector.  Jupiter and Uranus are in your real estate, housing situation, roommates, parents, childhood issues, safety and security, retirement circumstances, and “coming home” sector opposing Saturn.  You could be dealing with legal issues concerning your home, travel challenges concerning your parents, a houseguest could be into debating politics, religious dogma, etc.  You could be debating going away for vacation versus staying home and caring for the house (yard work, pet care, home repairs, etc).  Somehow, your “home” and your “global” sectors are clashing.  Mercury is in a position to mediate and to offer solutions from within your partnerships sector.  If a spouse, best friend, or business partner comes up with an idea or they offer to help, let them.  Maybe your best friend can come housesit while you are away on vacation, or your spouse can engage your opinionated houseguest in friendly debate thereby freeing you from having to participate, or a business partner might know a really good attorney that could help you with your real estate matters.  Look to your various partners for ideas.

From July 10th through the 16th, Venus and Pluto are working very nicely together.  Venus has moved into your long-distance travel, foreigners, languages, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector.  Pluto is still in Capricorn and your “me” sector.  These are the two planets in charge of seduction and finances.  They are in the zodiac signs of “work” and “success”.  Together, they can help you find work in political, cultural, religious, academic, legal, travel, tourism, and/or media related industries.  They also could help you fall in love with someone who works in one of these industries.  Or they could simply encourage you to enjoy spending time exploring these types of activities.  Maybe you could meet someone interesting while at a political, cultural, religious, or academic event.  If you happen to be in a legal battle, this is a good time to persuade the judge and to debate the financial aspects of the suit.

July 11th hosts a new moon eclipse in your partnerships sector.  This is an excellent time for new lovers, best friends, and professional partnerships.  You can also launch new projects together, get married, become engaged to be married, agree to a fresh start, sign contracts, and create any other new beginning that the two of you might like.  The sun and Mars are still blending your “partnerships” sector and your “global” sector, so you could find that travel, cultures, laws, politics, religions, universities, mass media, etc are a beneficial aspect of your new beginning together.  Eclipses are often life changing events.  Sometimes they do not show up right away, but later when you look back on things, you realize that this is when things began to change.  For example, you meet a new person who later introduces you to a potential new partner that turns out to be just what you were looking for.  So, you may or may not meet that new partner at this time, but you could also find that contacts, events, attitude shifts, etc that happen now have a more significant long-term impact on your life than what you might originally assume.

From July 19th through the 29th, the sun is in your partnerships sector preparing to move into your trust and sharing, intimacy, fidelity, loyalty, joint assets, joint ventures, investments, stocks, commissions, child support, spousal support, inheritances, taxes, and other forms of profit sharing sector.  The sun is working quite nicely with Jupiter and Uranus in your “home” sector.  This is a great time for activities that bring more trust, love, financial security, etc into your private life.  With Jupiter and Uranus’ involvement, things should be fun and spontaneous, it is more of a laughing and playful mood as opposed to sexy steamy date nights.  You could find this is a good time to work on property taxes, estate planning, real estate investments, etc.  You are able to attack these topics with enthusiasm, intelligence, and creativity.  A typically boring topic like financial security and long-term planning could actually end up being kind of fun.

From July 21st through the 24th, the sun is also working with Saturn who is slipping back into your tenth house of leadership and success.  This adds more professional and financial success to your life.  Jupiter and Uranus are still opposing Saturn.  They create a tug-of-war between your professional goals and your need for domestic bliss, between your public life and your private life, between your mother and father, or between professional leadership and retirement.  This is a good time for letting your spouse, best friend, or business partner help to smooth things over.  Again, they could have some great ideas.  Let them help you.

From July 24th through the 28th, Mercury and Neptune are creating another opposition in your life.  Mercury is in your trust and sharing, intimacy, fidelity, loyalty, joint assets, joint ventures, investments, stocks, commissions, child support, spousal support, inheritances, taxes, and other forms of profit sharing sector where Venus and Mars used to be.  Neptune is still in your personal wealth, salaries, wages, assets, bank accounts, and self-worth sector.  Once again, you are torn between “mine” and “ours”, between salaries and commissions, between self-respect and infidelity/trust issues, etc.  With Mercury’s involvement, you can try to negotiate, but he is not the last planet to pass through here, so do not be too disappointed if you are not able to put this to rest just yet.

July 25th hosts a full moon in your personal wealth, salaries, wages, assets, net worth, and self-worth sector.  Full moons are for endings, closure, grand finales, and “ta-da!” moments.  This is an excellent time for you to finish working on financial projects.  Pay off debts, collect monies owed to you, close out bank accounts, sell assets, finalize asset acquisitions, finish saving up for a major purchase, achieve a financial goal, finally land a regular paycheck, etc.  There is nothing negatively affecting this full moon so it should be a great time for you.  Jupiter and Uranus are sending positive energy from within your real estate, housing, roommates, parents, retirement circumstances, and domestic bliss sector.  Your home life is improved by this grand finale in your finances or maybe your folks have something to do with helping you to create it or maybe you are able to pay for real estate or home improvement projects, etc.

From July 26th through September 14th, Saturn battles Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are already thumbing their noses at Pluto and they are still opposing Saturn.  The opposition between your public life/career and your private life/residential situation gets even uglier for a while, because of Pluto’s involvement.  Since Pluto is in your “me” sector, it is you that is ticked off or you are at the center of the controversy.  Maybe you are working too much or your boss is annoying you, or your family is demanding too much of you at home.  Something or someone at home could be so publicly embarrassing that it is affecting your professional image.  Or you are spending too much time worry about your career and everything at home is becoming unorganized and chaotic (have you left roommates in charge of the housework?).  To make matters even worse, Mars is teaming up with Saturn until August 8th and will be adding an extra dose of anger, aggression, and/or agitation to your boss’s role in this drama.  You have to find a way to create balance between your career and your private life.

From July 27th through August 1st, Mercury and Pluto are getting along wonderfully.  Mercury is in your long-distance travel, foreigners, languages, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, academia, mass media, and global awareness sector and Pluto is still in your “me” sector.  Pluto likes to dig up hidden truths, trust issues, and hidden resources.  Mercury likes to share information, analyze, and negotiate.  Together, these two can help you explore people, careers, and adventures involving politics, religion, academia, law, travel, tourism, mass media, and/or global awareness.  With Pluto’s involvement, you could find romantic and financial benefits to this dynamic and with Mercury’s involvement, you could find professional benefits.

My Approach to Forecasting

Hope ‘Scopes

As many of you know, the forecasts over the last year and a half have reflected the negative aspects between various planets that have played a role in the economic, political, cultural, and societal challenges that we have been dealing with globally.  Some of you have written to us stating that you are tired of hearing all of the bad news and that you could really use something positive to focus your attention on, something to help you feel better as we go through this trying time.  Therefore, we have decided to create a new version of the horoscopes.

Hope ‘Scopes

I have always felt that I should tell you when good things are coming so that you can position yourself to take advantage of as much of that goodness as you can.  And that I should also tell you the truth about the bad things coming so that you can brace yourself and plan accordingly.  I still believe in that philosophy even though we are going through challenging times at the moment.  Therefore, I will still write the original style of in-depth monthly forecasts, as well as the new “Hope ‘Scopes”.

This URL will still be the home of the old style of forecasts...

Capricorn Horoscope

Synopsis:

Your home life and professional life are still pulling at you from both directions and making you feel as if you need two of you in order to give both the attention that they really need at this time.  However, the good news is that you have a financial and/or romantic new beginning or fresh start in your life.  You also have some wonderfully productive and lucrative energy moving through your professional life that is NOT being negatively affected by the home versus career drama.  Things will start to show glimmers of improvement this month as the battles all begin to wind down.

From August 3rd through the 12th, Venus joins Mars and Saturn in the big opposition against Jupiter and Uranus (with Pluto caught in the middle and being pulled at by both sides.)  Typically, Venus would try to add diplomacy, seduction, wealth, beauty, or justice to help solve a problem.  However, she is unable to help mediate the situation.  Six of the ten planets are now involved in this war.  Venus, Mars, and Saturn are representing your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and climbing the Ladder of Success.  Jupiter and Uranus are representing your home, housing situation, roommates, parents, and domestic life.  And Pluto is representing you, torn in the middle.  This is the worst of it.  Mars and Venus will wander off together leaving the Titans to carry on the battle until mid-September.  As Saturn moves deeper into Libra and your “success” sector and Jupiter and Uranus move back into Pisces and your local community, commercial activities, and communications sector, this battle will end.
