Cancer

July 2010

Synopsis:

You are still having trouble juggling your home, career, and partnerships.  However, you are seen as smart, creative, and willing to accept responsibility for your share of the problems.  You create something of a “new you” rebirth moment for yourself and you start negotiating, mediating, persuading, inspiring, and figuring it all out.  There are some professional, financial, and commercial benefits along the way.

Detailed version:

Old News

From March 25th through September 3rd, Saturn will be traveling backwards through your chart to recreate that big ugly battle with Uranus that we all dealt with in 2008 and 2009.  Saturn is in your fourth house of real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, safety and security, retirement circumstances, and “coming home”.  However, during part of this battle, he will backtrack and revisit your third house of communications, commerce, commitments, and local community.  Uranus will be in your ninth house of travel, cultures, laws, religions, politics, philosophies, universities, mass media, and global awareness, but will also be making a preview visit into your tenth house of professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation and success.  Like before, globally we will see the world battling independence versus government, brotherhood versus civic duty, rebellion versus organized systems, chaos versus order.  This has been a big part of the economic problems most countries have been facing.  Civil rights, global technology, and international brotherhood are all aspects of this debate.  In the past, Uranus and Saturn were in zodiac signs that specialize in seeing how old ways no longer serve us.  Therefore, the focus globally was on how to tear down old systems.  We fought over which systems to tear down, how to tear them down, which should be saved, and who had a better grasp of what was actually wrong with the world.  This year, there will still be some of that, but there will also be a chunk of time when these opposing planets will be in zodiac signs that build, create new beginnings, and love fresh starts.  Therefore, we will find ourselves arguing over what the new beginning should look like.  2009 was about what to get rid of; 2010 is about what to replace it with.  In general, it is an easier battle and a lot less depressing.  For you personally, it was and will again be about balancing your “home town” and “global” aspects.  Do you stay local or expand globally?  Can your business handle multicultural clientele?  What are the legal, political, and/or media related issues with expansion or with dealing with certain long-distance customers?  Should you travel on an exotic vacation or create an interesting “staycation”?  College students could be torn between local universities and those that are farther away from home. They could also find that there is a growing disconnect between themselves and their uneducated and unenlightened relatives.  Parents could find that their college kids suddenly know everything about everything and think that you are not very smart.  During parts of the battle, you will see elements of this month’s “home” versus “professional goals” battle kicking in too.  You might be debating the idea of relocating to another city for professional reasons or you might be dealing with cultural matters at home like political arguments or local neighbors coming over and spreading their bigotry and ignorance when you just wanted to have a pleasant backyard BBQ for the neighborhood.  Maybe you are the one who is going to be forced to become more open-minded or more accepting of others.  There is also the possibility that you could be debating whether or not to retire.  Or you could be thinking about becoming self-employed working from home and you are trying to figure out how to maintain a global presence within your industry (the Internet/websites could help).  Remember that as this battle moves back and forth across four of your twelve sectors, that the ultimate goal is to rebuild your life after the destruction of the last couple of years in a positive, fresh, new, and innovative way.

From April 8th through July 20th, Saturn revisits Virgo.  As mentioned before, Saturn is tangled up in a battle with Uranus during this time, so his focus will mostly be on a travel, academic, political, religious, legal, media, philosophical, and/or commercial dramas.

From May 4th through September 3rd, Jupiter opposes Saturn.  Jupiter is sneaking up behind Uranus and the two will soon be in a partnership as they both battle against Saturn.  Jupiter expands whatever he touches but he also tries to get people to see things from other people’s points of view.  Jupiter rules over global travel, multicultural studies, philosophies, religions, laws, universities, mass media, and “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes”.  Globally, we already have been dealing with younger generations wanting to take power from older generations.  We have seen battles between fundamentalists and rebels, between government and independence, between old-fashioned rules and futuristic visionaries, between old media (newspapers and television) and new media (the Internet), between stoic go-it-alone philosophies and brotherhood philosophies, etc.  Now, with Jupiter helping Uranus, the youthful, rebellious, brotherhood, social networking, and futuristic types are going to feel a huge boost of power in their favor.  Remember, this is a yin-yang placement of an almost identical astrological situation back in 1965 and 1966.  The Baby Boomers still see themselves as the youthful future-seekers, but a younger generation sees them as the old-fashioned ones dragging their feet and holding up progress.  Jupiter encourages a global, multicultural, academic, and judicious approach.  For you personally, Jupiter is helping with the open-minded, multicultural, academic, global awareness side in the battle against Saturn in your small town thinking sector.  You could find that you are siding more with the youthful rebellious brotherhood types rather than the old-fashioned “because this is the way we always do things” type.

From May 11th through January 31st 2011, Jupiter and Uranus are traveling partners.  As mentioned earlier, they are teamed up together battling Saturn as their partnership begins.  They are in your ninth house of long-distance travel, multicultural teachings, languages, religions, politics, laws, universities, mass media, and global awareness.  They are working hard to promote these topics and to bring more brotherhood, genius, teamwork, friendships, and social networking into these areas of your life.  It is an optimistic, youthful, and sometimes rebellious energy.

From May 28th through August 13th, Uranus is making a preview visit into Aries and your tenth house of professional goals and aspirations, leadership, civic duty, integrity, public reputation, fame, recognition, and climbing the Ladder of Success.  When other planets clash with Uranus while he is in your tenth house, he will bring you chaos, stubbornness, and plenty of drama.  However, when left alone to do his own thing or when helped by other planets, he will bring teamwork, business networking, innovation, technology, and the Internet into your arsenal of professional tools.  This could be a great time for Internet marketing and serious networking projects.  Joining teams, committees, and professional associations could really help boost your professional image, your networking effectiveness, and/or your ability to achieve your goals.  This is a preview of what is to come for the next few years beginning next year.  Jupiter might only spend a year or so blessing this area of your life, but Uranus is going to be here for a very long time bringing his genius and gifts to your career.  And he will outlast Saturn’s visit through the opposing “home” sector.

From June 6th through September 9th, Jupiter visits Aries and your tenth house of professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, fame, recognition, and climbing the Ladder of Success.  Jupiter is trying to give you a preview of the wonderfully upbeat, adventurous, and lucky energy that he will bestow upon you next year, but Saturn’s opposition is making it a little difficult for you to take full advantage of this preview visit.

From June 17th through September 9th, Jupiter and Uranus will be angering Pluto.  They are already in an opposition with Saturn, now they are also clashing with Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are still in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, fame, recognition, and climbing the Ladder of Success sector.  Pluto is still in your marriage, best friend, business partner, rival, competitor, and enemy sector.  This is one of those “Clash of the Titans” events.  “Youthful rebellion” is butting heads with “trust and hidden truths.”  Globally, the desire for transformation and innovation clashes with “there is a right way and a wrong way to manage a revolution.”  The hard work and deep thought involved in successfully revolutionizing things is a rude awakening for idealistic groups wanting instant change.  “Yes we can” is all about enthusiasm and group cheerleading.  However, change does not come quick and it does not come easy.  That does not mean it is not coming, it just means that there is some difficult “grown up” stuff that has to be figured out and impatience does not help the cause.  For you personally, it is your professional goals, leadership style, or a boss that is clashing with your partner.  Your spouse, best friend, or business partner could be upset about how you present the partnership publicly.  Or they could be upset about your lack of professional focus or they could think that you spend too much time worrying about your career and what other people think of you.  If your partnerships are okay, then you might instead find that a rival is willing to smear your good name in order to “win” a professional competition.

New Developments

July 1st and 2nd, Mercury and Mars are creating an alliance.  Mercury is in your “me” sector.  Mars is in your local community, commercial activities, and interpersonal communications sector.  Together, these two can help you connect with relatives, neighbors, and people in your local community.  This is an excellent time for buying, selling, bartering, bargaining, negotiating, persuading, teaching, and presenting your views.  You come across as both smart and compassionate at this time.  People are ready to hear what you have to say.

From July 6th through the 11th, Venus opposes Neptune the way Mars did last month.  Venus is in your personal wealth and self-worth sector.  Neptune is still in your trust and sharing, fidelity, loyalty, joint finances, investments, and profit sharing sector.  Once again, you have a financial tug-of-war or a battle of “mine” versus “ours”.  You could also be dealing with an internal debate concerning your self-respect versus cheating/trust issues.  This time, the energy is less confrontational and it is a little easier to mediate.

From July 6th through the 15th, the sun steps into the same place that Mercury was just in.  Now, it is the sun’s turn to work with Mars to help you communicate your thoughts and needs within your local community.  Once again, you come across as smart, compassionate, and you are able to get your point across to neighbors, relatives, and others within your local community.

From July 8th through the 10th, Mercury is working to help ease the tensions between Saturn and Jupiter/Uranus.  Saturn is in your interpersonal communications, commercial activities, and local community sector.  Jupiter and Uranus are in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, fame, recognition, and climbing the Ladder of Success sector opposing Saturn and creating a big battle between your professional goals and domestic bliss.  Your communications style, contract negotiations, job interviewing techniques, etc are clashing with your ability to succeed professionally.  Or you could be dealing with transportation issues or problems with your extended family that are causing you to come across as unprofessional.  Mercury is in a position to mediate and to help find solutions.  Since Mercury is still in your “me” sector, you are the one who is brainstorming ideas, mediating, negotiating, and finding ways to create solutions to these challenges negatively affecting your career.

From July 10th through the 16th, Venus and Pluto are working very nicely together.  Venus is in your communications, commerce, and community sector.  Pluto is still in your marriage, best friends, business partnerships, rivals, competitors, and enemies (think yin-yang) sector.  These are the two planets in charge of seduction and finances.  Together, they can help you and your various partners to come up with great ways to increase sales, improve communications with each other, and to create a sense of community.  This is a great time for business partners to negotiate sales and purchases.  It is a good time for romantic partners to make commitments and to express their love for each other.  And it is a good time for social partners to enjoy hanging out within each other’s families and communities.

July 11th hosts a new moon eclipse in your “me” sector.  New moons are for fresh starts, new beginnings, launching new projects, and for various forms of “conception”.  The sun and Mars are still blending your “me” sector and your “community” sector, so new beginnings involving how you present yourself, your outer image, your speaking mannerisms, and your style of persuasion are especially encouraged.  Since it is an eclipse, this could be a very effective “new you” that you create at this time.

From July 19th through the 29th, the sun in your “me” sector is working quite nicely with Jupiter and Uranus in your leadership and success sector.  This is a great time for focusing more on your professional goals and aspirations and trying to earn the respect and admiration of your peers.  During this ten-day period, the sun will move into your personal wealth, salaries, assets, and self-worth sector.  At that time, your financial and professional goals are in sync.

From July 21st through the 24th, the sun is also working with Saturn who is slipping back into Libra within your fourth house of real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood, safety and security, retirement circumstances, and “coming home”.  This adds financial security to your private life.  Jupiter and Uranus are still opposing Saturn.  They create a tug-of-war between your professional life and your private life.  Now with the sun working nicely with both ends of the battle, you could find that financial growth and working out a new budget that you are able to create more balance between the two.  Your boss could be paying you more for your efforts and the extra money is helping you to be able to smooth things over at home.  Maybe you can hire someone to help around the house thereby making it easier for you to balance your responsibilities at home with your desire to focus on your career.

From July 24th through the 28th, Mercury and Neptune are creating another opposition in your life.  Mercury is in your personal wealth, salaries, wages, assets, bank accounts, and self-worth sector where Venus and Mars used to be.  Neptune is still in your trust and sharing, intimacy, fidelity, loyalty, joint assets, joint ventures, investments, stocks, commissions, child support, spousal support, inheritances, taxes, and other forms of profit sharing sector.  Once again, you are torn between “mine” and “ours”, between salaries and commissions, between self-respect and infidelity/trust issues, etc.  With Mercury’s involvement, you can try to negotiate, but he is not the last planet to pass through here, so do not be too disappointed if you are not able to put this to rest just yet.

July 25th hosts a full moon in your trust and sharing, intimacy, fidelity, loyalty, joint finances, joint ventures, investments, stock options, commissions, royalties, bonus checks, inheritances, taxes, lotteries, alimony, child support, and other forms of profit sharing sector.  Full moons are for endings, closure, grand finales, and “ta-da!” moments.  This is an excellent time for you to finalize a financial project involving one of these forms of profit sharing.  It is also a good time for finally committing to a romantic relationship after a long courtship.  This full moon is receiving plenty of positive reinforcements from Jupiter and Uranus in your professional success sector.  Therefore, business finances are the most likely to benefit from this “ta-da!” moment in your profit sharing sector.  High profile romances are also blessed.

From July 26th through September 14th, Saturn battles Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are already thumbing their noses at Pluto and they are still opposing Saturn.  The opposition between your private life and public life, career and home, mother and father, etc gets even uglier for a while, because of Pluto’s involvement.  Pluto is in your marriage, best friend, business partnerships, enemies, competitors, and rivals (think yin-yang) sector.  With Saturn and Pluto clashing, your spouse, best friend, or business partner is battling with your parents, roommates, houseguests, or something in your private life.  They are already upset about your boss, professionalism, or chosen career path.  Now they are also upset about things at home.  It could also be that your home and career were already overstressed and your partner is simply upset that you are not making time for the relationship.  They could be feeling abandoned and they are not afraid to let you know it.  It could also be that your partner is not really mad at you.  They could be frustrated while working on a home-improvement, real estate, redecorating, or landscaping project and unfortunately, you are too busy with your professional goals to be able to help them with the issue.  Maybe they are stuck doing all of the chores and they feel that you are not pulling your weight.  A competitor or rival could be using something in your private life against you professionally or they could be jealous of your personal successes as well as your professional successes and they would like to sabotage both if given half a chance.  Whatever it is, your career versus home battle is made worse by an unhappy partner or competitor.

From July 27th through August 1st, Mercury and Pluto are getting along wonderfully.  Mercury is in your communications, commerce, and local community sector.  He rules over this area of the zodiac and is strongest here.  He is like a king in his own country.  Pluto is still bringing passion and profits to your partnerships sector.  Pluto likes to dig up hidden truths, trust issues, and hidden resources.  Mercury likes to share information, analyze, and negotiate.  Together, these two can help the two of you come up with solutions to your recent challenges.  This is a good time for ironing out business partnerships and for couples to buy and sell big ticket items.  Contract negotiations, sales, computers, automobiles, telecommunications systems, etc are blending wonderfully with partnerships.  So, the two of you can create some smart and lucrative deals and agreements together.  It is also a lovely time for the two of you to spend time with neighbors, extended family, and others in your local community.  This is not really a kiss and make up energy, but more of a smart and creative problem solving energy for the two of you to work with despite your home versus career challenges.  This is also a very good time for peace talks with your enemies and rivals.  You may be able to persuade them that you are both better off if you stop battling each other.

My Approach to Forecasting

Hope ‘Scopes

As many of you know, the forecasts over the last year and a half have reflected the negative aspects between various planets that have played a role in the economic, political, cultural, and societal challenges that we have been dealing with globally.  Some of you have written to us stating that you are tired of hearing all of the bad news and that you could really use something positive to focus your attention on, something to help you feel better as we go through this trying time.  Therefore, we have decided to create a new version of the horoscopes.

Hope ‘Scopes

I have always felt that I should tell you when good things are coming so that you can position yourself to take advantage of as much of that goodness as you can.  And that I should also tell you the truth about the bad things coming so that you can brace yourself and plan accordingly.  I still believe in that philosophy even though we are going through challenging times at the moment.  Therefore, I will still write the original style of in-depth monthly forecasts, as well as the new “Hope ‘Scopes”.

This URL will still be the home of the old style of forecasts...

New Developments

From August 3rd through the 12th, Venus joins Mars and Saturn in the big opposition against Jupiter and Uranus (with Pluto caught in the middle and being pulled at by both sides.)  Typically, Venus would try to add diplomacy, seduction, wealth, beauty, or justice to help solve a problem.  However, she is unable to help mediate the situation.  Six of the ten planets are now involved in this war.  Venus, Mars, and Saturn are representing your home, housing situation, roommates, parents, and domestic life.  Jupiter and Uranus are representing your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and climbing the Ladder of Success.  And Pluto is representing your spouse, best friend, business partner, or a competitor (think yin-yang) torn in the middle.  This is the worst of it.  Mars and Venus will wander off together leaving the Titans to carry on the battle until mid-September.  As Saturn moves deeper into Libra and your “home” sector and Jupiter and Uranus move back into Pisces and your long-distance travel, relocation, cultures, politics, religions, laws, philosophies, academics, mass media, and global awareness sector, this battle will end.
