Cancer’s Child

My Approach to Forecasting

Jupiter expands whatever he touches.  He usually spends about 13 months in each zodiac sign.  His job is to bring joy, adventure, open-mindedness, advanced education, travel, global perspectives, and a sense that we are all one big happy family and not so very different from each other.  Because of his expansive tendencies, he brings “prosperity” and “abundance” to whatever concept he is focused on.  If things are good, he brings an abundance of good.  If things are bad, he brings an abundance of bad.

As 2010 begins, Jupiter is still in Aquarius and your eighth house until January 18th when he moves into Pisces and your ninth house.  Normally, Jupiter spends about 13 months in each zodiac sign, but this year it is a bit different.  Jupiter flies through Pisces at mock speed and then moves into Aries and your tenth house on June 6th.  Later, he turns around and heads back into Pisces and your ninth house on September 9th.  Then on January 22nd, 2011, he moves back into Aries and your tenth house again, where he will remain throughout the first half of 2011.

While in Aquarius, Jupiter focuses on social networking, friendships, group activities, the Internet, and teamwork.  Aquarius rules over independence, freedom, eccentricities, and wanting to be seen as both a unique individual and a great team player.  “All for one and one for all”, “We are all in this together”, “Together we stand, divided we fall”, and “I am my brother’s keeper” are Aquarian philosophies that Jupiter is working to encourage and embrace.  Globally, this has been one of the major themes of 2009.

For Cancer, this has been happening in your eighth house of trust and sharing, intimacy, fidelity, loyalty, joint finances, commissions, royalties, stock options, and profit sharing.  It is also the area of your chart that governs personal rebirth, Phoenix Rising events, and hidden truths.  This has been a delightful energy for you to work with.  Romantically and financially, you should have found that you had plenty of options and opportunities to work towards whatever goals you had.  You might also have found it easier than usual to uncover people’s hidden agendas, their secrets, and to charm them into changing course.

In Pisces, Jupiter focuses on kindness, compassion, charity, emotional well-being, spirituality, intuition, empathy, and bringing a sense of “magic” to the world.

For Cancer, he will be in your ninth house of long-distance travel, multicultural studies, languages, religions, politics, laws, philosophies, universities, mass media, and global awareness.  Jupiter rules over the ninth house, so he is like a king in his own castle at this time, stronger and more likely to get his way.  This will be a great time for traveling, exploring, and sharing your newfound knowledge with others.  It is also a good time for political, academic, religious, philosophical, and/or media-related debates.  You are stronger and more likely to sway others towards your point of view while Jupiter is transiting this part of your chart.  You could also find more newcomers in your life are working in these same professions, or they are foreigners, or from backgrounds quite different from your own.  Jupiter promotes all kinds of “journeys” and the idea of teaching others what you learn along the way.

In Aries, Jupiter embraces Aries’ pioneering spirit, enthusiasm, fiery passion, and willingness to compete for the sheer entertainment of it.  Unlike Aquarius’ teamwork approach to life, Aries is all about racing to the top and being number one.  Aries is generous, boisterous, and charming.  The competitive nature is not a selfish or mean energy, but a childlike “last one there’s a rotten egg!” type of playful energy.  Jupiter can have great fun bringing more of this optimistic can-do energy into the world.

For Cancer, it happens in your tenth house of professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and success.  Aries is competitive, loves innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, is fast thinking, charming, persuasive, and fearless.  This is your overall approach to your career and your public reputation.  Even if you are an at-home mom, you would be the best at-home mom that anyone has ever known.  Not because you need others to be seen as losers or as bad parents, but because being really good at something makes you feel proud of yourself.  You are not a slacker regardless of whether or not your “career” is in the workplace, or the home, or volunteer work, or whatever.  When Jupiter blesses this area of your life, your career should really take off in some fun and entertaining new directions.  Your job has never been about boring grudge work.  Aries in the tenth house demands that you find your work fascinating and enticing.  Jupiter will do his best to bring more excitement, trend setting, and/or entrepreneurialship into your professional life.

When Jupiter backtracks and revisits Pisces and your ninth house, you could find that he is either bringing back political, religious, cultural, academic, media, and/or legal issues that have not been resolved so that you have a second chance at fixing them – or – he is bringing back another round of the joys of travel and/or getting to explore other cultures, beliefs, etc.  You can re-enjoy what you liked about Jupiter’s visit through Pisces and your ninth house or you can re-attack the problems and see if you can heal, fix, resolve, or settle them this time.

Saturn creates our personal challenges and “tough love” learning experiences.  He usually spends about two and a half years in each zodiac sign.  His job is to create learning experiences that are often uncomfortable but ultimately quite meaningful.  Saturn also rules over karma, cause and effect, ethics, and our sense of civic duty.  Therefore, it is not only important that we learn our life lessons well, but that we also conduct ourselves with honor and integrity while going through these challenges.  If we stay out of trouble, behave ethically, buckle down, and learn our lessons well, then Saturn rewards us with a gift just before he leaves that zodiac sign.  For example, if Saturn were traveling through the area of our charts that deals with professionalism, leadership, and success, then he would teach us some tough lessons about those concepts.  Then, if we learned our lessons and we behaved ourselves while doing so, Saturn would reward us with a job promotion, professional kudos, public recognition, etc.  We would be better at our jobs, better at leading our companies and communities, and/or we would be better at marketing and advertising ourselves.  If on the other hand, we did not learn our lessons, or we were unethical, blamed others for our problems, cheated, lied, etc then Saturn would simply move on to the next zodiac sign and we would have nothing to show for all the drama and trouble that we had just endured.  Saturn gets a bad reputation because many people think he is simply mean for the heck of it, when in actuality, he is like a “tough love” parent forcing us to grow up and act like a responsible adult.  Might not be very fun, but the rewards are well worth it.

As 2010 begins, Saturn is still making a preview visit in Libra and your fourth house.  He will backtrack and revisit Virgo and your third house from April 8th until July 20th.  During that time, he will make sure that you learned the life lessons you were taught over the last couple of years.  Then he will return to Libra and your fourth house where he will remain until October of 2012.

While in Virgo over the last couple of years, Saturn focused on our ability to feel like useful members of society.  Virgo rules over daily work tasks, to-do lists, coworkers, productivity levels, organizational skills, tools, and our physical health because if you are not physically able to do your fair share of the work, then you are not able to feel useful and productive.  The idea is that we are contributing something to society and not just lazing around picking daisies and playing Frisbee.  As lovely as eternal vacation might seem, at some point in our development, we all get bored of constant playtime and need something important to do.  “Did my life matter?  Did I contribute anything meaningful to the world?  What is my legacy, if any?”

For Cancer, this happens in your third house of interpersonal communications (verbal and written words, telecommunications, computers, etc.), commercial activities (buying and selling, negotiations, contracts, agreements, commitments, etc.), and local community (neighbors, local people, siblings, extended family, one’s clansmen, etc.).  Local forms of transportation, like subways, city busing, cars, bicycles, skates, etc are also part of this sector.  When Saturn passes through this area of someone’s chart, they often experience problems, issues, and challenges concerning neighbors and extended family, local transportation, computers, telecommunications, sales, contract negotiations, and the ability to get their point across to others.  You can be accused of thinking in a small-town, narrow-minded way or you can have trouble with others because of their small-town narrow-minded philosophies.  You have been taught to fine-tune your delivery, read contracts before signing them, back up your computer systems, and/or to work on your interpersonal relationships.

While in Libra, Saturn focuses on our partnerships.  Libra rules over marriage, best friends, business partnerships, and competitors (think yin-yang).  While in this zodiac sign, Saturn forces us all to look at who we choose to partner with, what kind of partnerships we like, and how we behave within our partnerships.  It is not uncommon for marriages to suffer, best friends to “break up”, and for business partnerships to dissolve.  Competitors can become vicious, especially if they are pointing out real flaws in our character and not just making stuff up.  Libra rules diplomacy, fairness, justice, and mediation too.  Globally, we could see these topics becoming quite challenging for all countries.  Various government leaders will be challenged to pick carefully which countries they choose to partner with and which they choose to keep as enemies.  They would do well to remember Saturn’s focus on karma, integrity, and civic responsibility.

For Cancer, hosting Saturn in the fourth house can be very painful.  Cancer rules the fourth house, so what happens here is taken very personally.  The fourth house is about real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, retirement planning, and “coming home”.  You could struggle with keeping a roof over your head, battle over mortgages and rental contracts, fight with a remodeling or landscaping project, deal with annoying roommates, struggle through negative relationships with your parents or spend time battling childhood demons and have a hard time forgiving your parents for their role in whatever happened, and/or you could be trying to create a retirement nest egg and find that it is more challenging than it should be.  If you do suffer marital problems, they will mostly be about your private lifestyle, the house, chores, yard work, etc. the things that make up our idea of “home”.  You could also argue about retirement planning or your parents.  Saturn could also challenge you with “home” related topics, but rather than driving a wedge between the two of you, you could be challenged as a joint partnership.  As a couple, what do you do to fix household problems that come up?  As a couple what do you do about each other’s aging parents?  As a couple what do you do about retirement planning? These are the types of questions the two of you could be forced to face.

Uranus is the eccentric genius, rebellious teenager, and social networking guru of the zodiac.  He usually spends about 7 years in each zodiac sign.  He rules over friends, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, networking, science (interconnectivity), electricity, and the Internet.  He can bring teamwork, friendships, networking, and a sense of belonging to something bigger than yourself into your life.  He can also bring stubbornness, eccentricity, rebellion, and perversity.  This is because at his core, he is trying to convince us to be our unique individual selves but also to be a great team player.  Thus, like a teenager, he is trying to find himself while being very susceptible to peer pressure.  Those who master Uranus’ teachings often make charming and charismatic leaders.  Uranus also encourages us to think outside the box and brings a certain eclectic brilliance into our lives.  Like the eccentric genius and the rebellious teenager, he brings pleasant surprises and unexpected chaos.  Uranus promotes humanitarian ideals like brotherhood, “all for one and one for all”, and “united we stand, divided we fall.”  He is not asking us to be sheeple, following the crowd mentality with blind faith.  He is asking us to know our unique gifts and to be strong enough in our self-knowledge to be able to work well in a team and to be able to socialize without losing our sense of individuality.

As 2010 begins, Uranus is still in Pisces and your ninth house.  He will stay in this area of your chart most of the year, but will be visiting Aries and your tenth house from May 28th through August 13th.  Then he moves back into Pisces and your ninth house until he makes a more permanent move into Aries and your tenth house in March 2011.

There are zodiac signs where Uranus shines and is emboldened to bring about wonderful brotherly love and incredible scientific advances, like when he was in his own zodiac sign, Aquarius from the middle of 1995 until the early part of 2003.  While there, the everyday use of the Internet took root and blossomed.  Prior to that, he was in Capricorn building the systems of the Internet.  Yes, the Internet has been around for a long time, but it was during the time that the planet in charge of the Internet was traveling through the zodiac sign in charge of the Internet, that the Internet seriously began to grow and expand into the incredible tool that it is today.

In Pisces, Uranus is somewhat subdued.  Pisces rules over the hidden forces that work behind the scenes.  Therefore, things like mental health, secrets, self-destruction, addictions, spiritual mysteries, bureaucracies, and “fogginess” are ruled by Pisces.  Therefore, we now have gambling, porn, and other self-destructive activities available online.  We also have government bureaucracies trying to legislate for or against Net Neutrality and spam.  We have all kinds of spiritual, mental health, self-help, and “positive attitude” information readily available as well.  Is it any wonder that people are becoming addicted to the Internet?  On the other hand, Uranus’ time in Pisces has helped us to befriend people from all over the world that we otherwise would not have gotten to know.  Global brotherhood is much easier to encompass.  Pisces believes in sacrificing for the greater good and Uranus is a huge fan of humanitarianism.  Together, they bring us websites that work to educate and promote helping those less fortunate in other countries.  Uranus may not have the razzamatazz in Pisces that he has in some other zodiac signs, but he is not without his charms within this area of our lives.

For Cancer, this has been occurring in your ninth house of long-distance travel, multicultural studies, languages, religions, politics, philosophies, universities, mass media, and global awareness.  Hosting Uranus in this area of your life can be exhilarating.  If you working in political, academic, travel, legal, media, and/or religious industries, you have probably found this to be an excellent energy to host in your global awareness sector.  Uranus would have made this an ever-changing, fascinating, and innovative time in those types of careers.  You could also find that these areas were full of chaos and they may have forced you to pay attention and to get involved.  Foreigners, clergy, lawyers, politicians, travel agents, professors, publishers, and other people working in these industries could also have been full of surprises over the last few years.

Once Uranus moves into Aries, he can have some fun.  Aries is innovative, entrepreneurial, competitive, and loves being the first one to come up with a new idea.  Uranus is in love with new technology, teamwork, being unique while being part of something bigger than one’s self, and a brainstorming genius.  Both are extroverted, social, and stubborn.  Both are clever, fast, and pride themselves on their uniqueness.  At first, Uranus will enjoy a lovely summer visit into Aries and then later next year, he will formally move into Aries for the next few years.  He reminds me of a teenager visiting a college campus before moving there permanently during the college years.  This first visit will be exhilarating and then going back into Pisces will feel stiff and too confining before he makes the official move to Aries.  Globally, we will probably see the Internet and new technology take off like crazy.  It will be interesting to see how the planet of teamwork and brotherly love affects the world while in the zodiac sign of warriors and “me first!”  Does “me” or “we” prevail?

For Cancer, Uranus will also be moving into your tenth house of professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and success.  When other planets clash with Uranus while he is in your tenth house, he will bring you chaos, stubbornness, and plenty of drama.  However, when left alone to do his own thing or when helped by other planets, he will bring teamwork, business networking, innovation, technology, and the Internet into your arsenal of professional tools.  This could be a great time for Internet marketing and serious networking projects.  Joining teams, committees, and professional associations could really help boost your professional image, your networking effectiveness, and/or your ability to achieve your goals.  Jupiter might only spend a year or so blessing this area of your life, but Uranus is going to be here for a very long time bringing his genius and gifts to your career.  And he will outlast Saturn’s visit through the opposing “home” sector.

Neptune tries to bring emotional well-being, spirituality, and a touch of magic to whatever he touches.  Unfortunately, he also has a tendency to bring self-destruction, bureaucracies, and gullibility too.  He usually spends about 14 years in each zodiac sign.  Neptune rules over mental health, attitudes, intuition, secrets, spiritual mysteries, paranormal activities, charities, bureaucracies, and other hidden forces that work behind the scenes.  If things are good, he brings compassion and a touch of magic.  If things are bad, he brings delusions and fogginess.

As 2010 begins, Neptune is still in Aquarius and your eighth house.  He will stay here until January 2012.

In Aquarius, Neptune is behaving in sort of a yin-yang energy to Uranus.  Uranus is in Neptune’s zodiac sign and Neptune is in Uranus’ zodiac sign.  They are each doing their thing, but focusing on the other’s topics.  While Uranus is creating brotherhood online, Neptune is trying to make mental health, spirituality, and bureaucracies work for everyone.  One brings teamwork to humanitarian causes; the other brings humanitarian causes to teamwork.  One says, “I am mentally healthy and self-assured so that I can be a great team player.”  The other says, “I am a great team player so that I can feel mentally healthy and self-assured.”  Is it any wonder that “Yes we can” became the global motto in 2008?  To some, it is a delusional concept full of lollypop dreams and gullible “kool-aid” drinking.  To others, it is the logical and necessary blending of global teamwork and universal compassion.

For Cancer, Neptune has been blessing your eighth house of trust and sharing (sex and money).  Since Neptune rules over fogginess among other things, he tends to have a “now you see it, now you don’t” affect on the financial sectors.  All Cancer natives to some extent have been dealing with this over the last few years.  Money flows magically into your life and magically right back out again.  Since Neptune also rules over spirituality, mental health, intuition, and charities, it is not surprising that many Cancer natives have found that by working in these types of industries, they are finally able to create decent profits.  Any job that brings emotional well-being, compassion, love, and caring into your life is going to be financially beneficial at this time.  It is not that you cannot have money; it is that Neptune would rather give you peace of mind and a sense of pride that you took the path of “heart” over the path of “wealth”.  Also, because Neptune does work in magical and paranormal ways, you should have found that for the most part, your material needs were always taken care of even if your bank account lacked impressiveness.  Most Cancer natives will not get rich per se, unless they are meant to donate large sums to charity organizations.  You will all sigh a big relief in early 2012 when Neptune moves on to bless your travel and multicultural sector instead.  Since the eighth house is about sharing and therefore spousal income, you could find that your spouse is the one who is undergoing these financial issues rather than you personally.  Also, since this is the area of your chart that governs intimacy, sexual unions, fidelity, and loyalty, you could find that these areas have had a similar “fogginess” to them.  You might fall madly in and out of love with many different people or maybe feel that “Mr. or Ms Right” is always just beyond your grasp.  The idea of love and romance could be quite appealing, but the practical day-to-day aspects of being in a committed relationship could feel similar to the bureaucracy and red tape of working in a corporate job… too stifling, too many rules, too much “because this is just the way we do things.”  You could also find yourself attracted to self-destructive or gullible partners or they could see you as a self-destructive or delusional partner.  Neptune brings both magic and destruction to your trust and sharing (sex and money) sector.

Pluto psychoanalyzes, empowers, and/or heals whatever he touches.  He has an uneven pattern and can spend as little as 13 years or as much as 32 years in any given zodiac sign.  His job is to uncover the hidden truths within our lives and to either empower us with passion and self-righteousness, or to heal us by forcing us to go through a Phoenix Rising type of experience.  It can be painful to endure Pluto’s scrutiny, but it can ultimately prove to be incredibly uplifting.  Personal rebirth is often the result of Pluto’s passage through certain areas of our life.  Pluto rules over trust and sharing.  It is often through hidden motivations, hidden assets, hidden agendas, hidden resources, and/or through loyalty and fidelity matters that we find out what we are really made of and we find out what our partners are really made of.  Pluto can reveal gifts, assets, stamina, and psychological resources that we had no idea existed within ourselves.  And Pluto can reveal the selfish, greedy, and emotionally crippling aspects of ourselves too.  All too often, he uses our need for sexual intimacy and financial teamwork (trust and sharing) to teach us these lessons.  The reason that Scorpios are known to be so revengeful is because Scorpio co-rules over the trust and sharing concepts with Pluto.  Breaking trust is the worst thing you can do to a Scorpio.  From Scorpio’s perspective, nothing could possibly be more important that the ability to trust others.

As 2010 begins, Pluto is still in Capricorn and your seventh house.  He moved into this area of your life in 2008 and will stay here until January 2024.

In Capricorn, Pluto focuses on doing the right thing because it is the thing to do.  Capricorn rules over professionalism, leadership, goals and aspirations, success, civic duty, public recognition, and earning the respect of our peers.  Remember earlier when we talked about Saturn and how he teaches us about karma, cause and effect, and “tough love” style life lessons.  Saturn rules Capricorn and so Capricorn embraces the concepts of “tough love”, doing one’s civic duty, and ideas like “If I don’t take care of this, who will?”  When in Sagittarius, Pluto promoted exploring the world and all of the various cultures, peoples, religions, etc.  Sagittarius promoted freedom to explore and to dabble in various religious and cultural teachings.  The idea that all religions are more alike than different and therefore we can pick and chose bits and pieces of which ones we like is a very Sagittarian approach to religion and spirituality.  We focused on global travel, politics, and mass media.  Pluto had a good time digging deep down into the truth about our political beliefs, our religious practices, our international diplomacy, and such.  Now, he is focusing on the business systems, ethics, integrity, and professionalism of our world.  Do the large corporations follow ethical business practices?  Do we have integrity in our government agencies?  Do we as individuals, as communities, as states, as countries… do we take on a parental role and look out for those in need or do we focus on our own personal agendas?  It may not feel like a lot of fun, but this is the perfect energy for fixing the economic system, the environmental policies, the human rights violations, the health care system, welfare programs, voting fraud, etc.  Big systems that are broken can be fixed, healed, restructured, and/or demolished in a smart and tenacious manner.  We have the planet of passion, truth, and rebirth focused on the zodiac sign of responsibility, integrity, and leadership.

For Cancer, Pluto is in your seventh house of marriage, best friends, and business partnerships, you should find that it becomes a lot easier to commit to these types of relationships.  You have the planet of "trust and sharing" in the house of "just the two of us" in the zodiac sign of "integrity."  This makes it an amazingly strong energy for romantic relationships.  Pluto brings sexual fidelity, passion, and trust into your marriage sector.  It is also a wonderful energy for best friends -- bringing psychological healing, trust, and intuitive understanding into this bond.  Business partnerships are also helped a great deal with Pluto's presence in this sector.  Pluto brings commissions, royalties, and other forms of profit sharing as well as trust and passion to the work the two of you are doing together.  Those of you who do not already have romantic partners, best friends, or business partners, might find you are suddenly attracted to Scorpios or people with similar personalities.
