Aries

July 2010

Synopsis:

Yes, there is still a big battle happening in your professional life, but the good news is that your private life, real estate matters, parents, roommates, retirement planning, and/or home-related projects are all progressing along quite nicely.  You might want to consider spending more time working from home or changing to a home-focused career (landscaping, hospice care, interior decorating, etc).  Or maybe you could host a few backyard BBQs this month to help make life a bit more fun.

Detailed version:

Old News

From March 25th through September 3rd, Saturn will be traveling backwards through your chart to recreate that big ugly battle with Uranus that we all dealt with in 2008 and 2009.  Saturn is about to reenter your sixth house of daily work, coworkers, productivity levels, physical health, and “feeling useful”.  Uranus is still in your mental health, intuition, spiritual mysteries, bureaucracy, and “hidden forces working behind the scenes” sector, but will be visiting Aries and your “me” sector during part of this battle.  Like before, globally we will see the world battling independence versus government, brotherhood versus civic duty, rebellion versus organized systems, chaos versus order.  This has been a big part of the economic problems most countries have been facing.  Civil rights, global technology, and international brotherhood are all aspects of this debate.  In the past, Uranus and Saturn were in zodiac signs that specialize in seeing how old ways no longer serve us.  Therefore, the focus globally was on how to tear down old systems.  We fought over which systems to tear down, how to tear them down, which should be saved, and who had a better grasp of what was actually wrong with the world.  This year, there will still be some of that, but there will also be a chunk of time when these opposing planets will be in zodiac signs that build, create new beginnings, and love fresh starts.  Therefore, we will find ourselves arguing over what the new beginning should look like.  2009 was about what to get rid of; 2010 is about what to replace it with.  In general, it is an easier battle and a lot less depressing.  For you personally, it was and will again be about battles between bureaucracy and productivity, between mental health and physical health, and/or between logic and intuition.  It will seem like no matter how hard you try or how smartly prepared you are, that red tape, corporate policies, and other forms of bureaucracy just keep creating brick walls and road blocks that drive you nuts.  It is very easy to end up feeling burned out and grumpy as a result.  You need to be diligent about creating balance between these opposing forces.  Keep in mind that the real focus is on building something new, not on trying to salvage the old ways that no longer work.  At various times during this last battle between Uranus and Saturn, you and your partners/rivals will also be butting heads because of the times when Uranus is visiting Aries and Saturn is in Libra.

From April 8th through July 20th, Saturn revisits Virgo.  As mentioned before, Saturn is tangled up in a battle with Uranus during this time, so his focus will mostly be on a mental health versus physical health, intuition versus logic, bureaucracy versus productivity debate.

From May 4th through September 3rd, Jupiter opposes Saturn.  Jupiter is sneaking up behind Uranus and the two will soon be in a partnership as they both battle against Saturn.  Jupiter expands whatever he touches but he also tries to get people to see things from other people’s points of view.  Jupiter rules over global travel, multicultural studies, philosophies, religions, laws, universities, mass media, and “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes”.  Globally, we already have been dealing with younger generations wanting to take power from older generations.  We have seen battles between fundamentalists and rebels, between government and independence, between old-fashioned rules and futuristic visionaries, between old media (newspapers and television) and new media (the Internet), between stoic go-it-alone philosophies and brotherhood philosophies, etc.  Now, with Jupiter helping Uranus, the youthful, rebellious, brotherhood, social networking, and futuristic types are going to feel a huge boost of power in their favor.  Remember, this is a yin-yang placement of an almost identical astrological situation back in 1965 and 1966.  The Baby Boomers still see themselves as the youthful future-seekers, but a younger generation sees them as the old-fashioned ones dragging their feet and holding up progress.  Jupiter encourages a global, multicultural, academic, and judicious approach.  For you personally, Jupiter is helping with mental health, spiritual mysteries, intuition, bureaucracies, and red tape in the battle against Saturn in your daily work, productivity levels, logic, coworkers, and feeling like a useful member of society sector.  You could find that brainstorming sessions, technology, innovative ideas, exercise and fitness routines are especially helpful in combating depression, hopelessness, and feeling as if bureaucrats are screwing things up.

From May 11th through January 31st 2011, Jupiter and Uranus are traveling partners.  As mentioned earlier, they are teamed up together battling Saturn as their partnership begins.  For now, they are in Pisces and your twelfth house of mental health, attitudes, addictions, deception, intuition, spiritual mysteries, secrets, fogginess, bureaucracies, and “hidden forces working behind the scenes.”  They work to help you maneuver through these various hidden forces, bureaucracies, and spiritual mysteries.  They can help you recognize “reality” when things seem unclear and confusing.  They can also help you to recognize when you are sabotaging your dreams and when hidden agendas, deceptions, and/or gullibility might be holding you back.  In a couple of weeks, they will move into Aries and your first house of “me”.  When this happens, they will change their focus towards sudden flashes of inspiration, brilliant brainstorming, and an intuitive ability to work with groups of people in your life.  You could also find you are hit with a bit of an independent streak and might want to strike out on your own professionally or socially.  Allowing yourself this kind of freedom could be quite uplifting.  As summer ends, Uranus and Jupiter will each slip back over the borderline into Pisces where they will remain for the rest of their time together.  When other planets clash with these two planets, they will bring chaotic mood changes, stubbornness, and/or unexpected issues involving deception, delusion, bureaucracies, and “fogginess”.  Problems involving government agencies, hospitals, prisons, large corporations, and other institutions could seemingly pop up out of nowhere.  When other planets work nicely with this duo (or they are left alone to do their own thing), they will be working hard on your behalf to bring a friendly, funny, upbeat joy to your moods.

From May 28th through August 13th, Uranus is in Aries and your first house of “me”.  Hosting Uranus in this area of your life can be exhilarating.  Uranus is teaching you to let your inner-rebel out occasionally, to not be afraid to march to your own drummer, and to try new ways of looking at teamwork, group-think, and technology.  When planets clash with Uranus, you come across as more chaotic, stubborn, and rebellious.  When planets work nicely with Uranus, you come across as more of a team player, creative, and intelligent.  Aries adds more stubbornness, more innovation, more entrepreneurial approaches, more competitiveness, and more stamina to all of your activities.  You still have Uranus’ genius, teamwork, networking skills, and Internet savvy to help you too.  The combined forces could be extremely energetic.  You could also be hit with a huge independence streak and want to be the loan wolf.  Aries brings out the “Look at me!  I did it all by myself!” energy within each of us.  Uranus still encourages teamwork and group activities, but Aries will add a need to stand out as #1, Most Valuable Player, and/or as a natural leader within your clubs, teams, committees, and professional associations.  If your job involves teamwork, networking, science, and/or the Internet, you could find the next few years are quite exciting!

From June 6th through September 9th, Jupiter visits Aries and your first house of “me”.  Jupiter is trying to give you a preview of the wonderfully upbeat, adventurous, and lucky energy that he will bestow upon you next year, but Saturn’s opposition is making it a little difficult for you to take full advantage of this preview visit.

From June 17th through September 9th, Jupiter and Uranus will be angering Pluto.  They are already in an opposition with Saturn, now they are also clashing with Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are preparing to reenter your mental health, spiritual mysteries, and bureaucracies sector.  Pluto is still in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and climbing the Ladder of Success sector.  This is one of those “Clash of the Titans” events.  “Youthful rebellion” is butting heads with “trust and hidden truths.”  Globally, the desire for transformation and innovation clashes with “there is a right way and a wrong way to manage a revolution.”  The hard work and deep thought involved in successfully revolutionizing things is a rude awakening for idealistic groups wanting instant change.  “Yes we can” is all about enthusiasm and group cheerleading.  However, change does not come quick and it does not come easy.  That does not mean it is not coming, it just means that there is some difficult “grown up” stuff that has to be figured out and impatience does not help the cause.  For you personally, it is your success and leadership sector fighting with your bureaucracy, secrets, and self-destruction sector.  This could be an internal battle regarding your beliefs about success and the professional path you are on or it can be an external battle between you and a boss, father, or authority figure.

New Developments

July 1st and 2nd, Mercury and Mars are creating an alliance.  Mercury is in your real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, safety, retirement circumstances, and “coming home” sector.  Mars is in your daily work, coworkers, to-do lists, chores, productivity, physical health, and “feeling useful” sector.  This is a great time for working on landscaping, remodeling, reorganizing, and other home-related chores.  You could also use this time to help your parents with a major project at their house or let your parents help you.  This is a very good energy for home-related businesses, home-based businesses, telecommuting, and bringing work home from the office.

From July 6th through the 11th, Venus opposes Neptune the way Mars did last month.  Venus is in your personal pleasure, lovers, playtime, pets, children, hobbies, creative talents, luxury, and happiness sector.  Neptune is still in your friends, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, networking, and Internet activities sector.  Once again, you have a tug-of-war between your social obligations, committee meetings, team spirit, or Internet activities and your desire to have fun, spend time with loved ones, or work on creative projects.  This time it is a little easier to mediate.

From July 6th through the 15th, the sun steps into the same place that Mercury was just in.  Now, it is the sun’s turn to work with Mars to help you blend your “home” and “work” together in a smart and productive manner.  You can get quite a bit accomplished and brainstorm ideas for creating more balance and harmony between work and home.

From July 8th through the 10th, Mercury is working to help ease the tensions between Saturn and Jupiter/Uranus.  Saturn is in your daily work and physical health sector.  Jupiter and Uranus are in your “me” sector opposing Saturn and creating a big battle involving you and your need for productivity, organization, getting things done, employees/coworkers, practicality/logic, physical health, etc.  Mercury is in a position to mediate and to help find balance from within your home, parents, and roommates sector.  A parent, roommate, home-based business, home computer, etc could be part of the solution to help you.  Maybe you telecommute for a while, or you brainstorm solutions while in the privacy of your own home, or your parent/roommate comes up with some clever ideas that help you.  If you are self-employed or working in a home-based or home-focused career, you could find that even though things are hectic right now, business is booming and you are doing a decent job of juggling all of the various components.

From July 10th through the 16th, Venus and Pluto are working very nicely together.  Venus has moved into your daily work, coworkers, productivity, physical fitness, and “feeling useful” sector.  Pluto is still in your professional goals and aspirations, leadership, public reputation, and success sector.  These are the two planets in charge of seduction and finances.  Together, they can help you work on financial and business growth.  You come across as smart, persuasive, and able be fair while taking on leadership roles.

July 11th hosts a new moon eclipse in your real estate, housing matters, roommates, parents, childhood issues, security, retirement circumstances, and “coming home” sector.  This is an excellent time for new homes, new roommates, new parents (marriages?), new relationships with your parents or roommates, new home improvement or landscaping projects, new home-based businesses, and/or new retirement plans.  The sun and Mars are still blending your “home” sector and your “work” sector, so careers involving home-related topics, like landscaping, hospice care, real estate, construction, interior decorating, etc, are especially blessed.  This is a great time for launching any new projects involving your home, parents, roommates, private life, and/or retirement plans.  There is nothing negatively affecting this new beginning in your “home” sector, so things should turn out nicely.  Since it is an eclipse, you could find that this new beginning or fresh start is quite profound even if it does not seem so at the time.  Later when you look back on things, you might realize that this is when it all began to change.

From July 19th through the 29th, the sun in your “home” sector is working quite nicely with Jupiter and Uranus in your “me” sector.  This is a great time for working on mortgages, rental contracts, real estate deals, remodeling, home-improvements, landscaping projects, etc.  If you work from home, this could be a good time for coming up with creative ideas, setting up websites, and for business networking.  You are in a strong, upbeat, enthusiastic mood and you are channeling that into your home life.

From July 21st through the 24th, the sun is also working with Saturn who is slipping back into Libra and your marriage, best friends, business partnerships, rivals, enemies, and competitors (think yin-yang).  Jupiter and Uranus are still opposing Saturn.  They create a tug-of-war between you and one of your partners or competitors.  Now with the sun working nicely with both sides of the battle, you could find that you are able to find ways of creating balance that are rooted in your home life.  Once again, your parents or roommates could be quite helpful.

From July 24th through the 28th, Mercury and Neptune are creating another opposition in your life.  Mercury is in your personal pleasure, lovers, playtime, pets, children, hobbies, creative talents, luxury, and happiness sector where Venus and Mars used to be.  Neptune is still in your friendships, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, networking, and Internet sector.  Once again, social obligations, Internet activities, team spirit, or some other group activity is keeping you from spending quality time with loved ones, hobbies, and/or creative pursuits.

July 25th hosts a full moon in your friends, teams, clubs, committees, professional associations, networking, and connectivity sector.  Full moons are for endings, closure, grand finales, and “ta-da!” moments.  This is an excellent time for you to finish working on projects involving teams, clubs, committees, associations, networking, and/or the Internet.  It is also a great time to end unhealthy friendships and to leave groups and organizations that no longer serve your best interest.  There is nothing negatively affecting this full moon so it should be a great time for you.  It could even be a simply lovely night for you and some good friends to use for a night out to laugh and “howl at the moon.”  Jupiter and Uranus are sending positive energy from within your “me” sector.  This adds to the idea that you are enjoying this grand finale in your social networking sector or that your need for more independence and freedom is playing a role in the ending of a social commitment.

From July 26th through September 14th, Saturn battles Pluto.  Jupiter and Uranus are already thumbing their noses at Pluto and they are still opposing Saturn.  The opposition involving you and a spouse, best friend, business partner, rival, competitor, or enemy gets even uglier for a while, because of Pluto’s involvement.  Professional issues, reputations, or leadership challenges are adding to the problems you are already dealing with.  You and a partner could be arguing about your professional goals, your desire to be admired and respected, your boss’s leadership style, your level of professionalism, your obsession with other people’s opinions of you, etc.  It is also possible that an enemy could be trying to smear your good name or your partner could be upset about how you are presenting your partnership to the rest of the world.  To make matters even worse, Mars is teaming up with Saturn until August 8th and will be adding an extra dose of anger, aggression, and/or agitation to this drama.  Try to remember that everyone has this harsh energy somewhere in his or her chart and everyone is feeling stubborn, passionate, and volatile.  Emotions could get a bit raw.  Be very careful not to say or do anything you will regret later.

From July 27th through August 1st, Mercury and Pluto are getting along wonderfully.  Mercury is entering your daily work, coworkers, to-do lists, chores, productivity, physical fitness, and “feeling useful” sector.  Pluto rules over profit sharing, commissions, investments, etc.  Mercury rules over commerce, computers, and communications.  Together, these two can help you with all kinds of professional and financial projects.  They also help you to communicate in a powerful and persuasive manner.  Your leadership skills are quite impressive at this time.

My Approach to Forecasting

Hope ‘Scopes

As many of you know, the forecasts over the last year and a half have reflected the negative aspects between various planets that have played a role in the economic, political, cultural, and societal challenges that we have been dealing with globally.  Some of you have written to us stating that you are tired of hearing all of the bad news and that you could really use something positive to focus your attention on, something to help you feel better as we go through this trying time.  Therefore, we have decided to create a new version of the horoscopes.

Hope ‘Scopes

I have always felt that I should tell you when good things are coming so that you can position yourself to take advantage of as much of that goodness as you can.  And that I should also tell you the truth about the bad things coming so that you can brace yourself and plan accordingly.  I still believe in that philosophy even though we are going through challenging times at the moment.  Therefore, I will still write the original style of in-depth monthly forecasts, as well as the new “Hope ‘Scopes”.

This URL will still be the home of the old style of forecasts...

New Developments

From August 3rd through the 12th, Venus joins Mars and Saturn in the big opposition against Jupiter and Uranus (with Pluto caught in the middle and being pulled at by both sides.)  Typically, Venus would try to add diplomacy, seduction, wealth, beauty, or justice to help solve a problem.  However, she is unable to help mediate the situation.  Six of the ten planets are now involved in this war.  Venus, Mars, and Saturn are representing your spouse, best friend, business partner, or competitor.  Jupiter and Uranus are representing you.  And Pluto is representing your professional goals and aspirations, leadership style, authority figures, public reputation, and success.  You and your spouse, best friend, or a business partner could be arguing over a boss, professional path, potential job promotion, or some other “success” related topic.  Or the two of you could be arguing over your public reputation, how much you do or do not care about what others think of you, etc.  If your partnerships are going well, then you could find that a rival or competitor is ratcheting things up a notch and is willing to smear your good name if that is what it takes for them to win this battle.  This is the worst of it.  Mars and Venus will wander off together leaving the Titans to carry on the battle until mid-September.  As Saturn moves deeper into Libra and your partnerships and rivalries (think yin-yang) sector and Jupiter and Uranus move back into Pisces and your mental health, intuition, spiritual mysteries, bureaucracy, and “hidden forces working behind the scenes” sector, this battle will end.
